Hi everyone my name is Barb I am 34 years old and my pre-op weight was 340 lbs.  My laperscopic RNY was done on 3/16/09.  As I like to think my new beginning. I have been heavy all my life from the time I was a child.  I remember being in the 9 grade one of the 1st days of school was weigh-in, in gym class in front of everyone and the teacher said to me and everyone else 202 lbs.  I sunk inside myself and thought I weigh more than a football player and everyone in my gym class new it.  It was a mortifying moment for me and I will never forget it.  The night of my surgery my nurse was walking me around the halls she was short and thin.  She asked me what my gaol weight was and I told her I hadn't put a number on it but I would be happy in a size 8.  I don't ever remember being a size 8. She said to me that was my goal and now I am a size 4 and sometimes a 2.  She said this will be one of the best things you will ever do for yourself and you will be so surprised.  I was surprised I couldn't even believe she wore a size 22/24 only 9 months ago.  It was so nice to have a nurse that had been through the exact same thing just 9 months ago taking care of me.  I don't remember the last time I bought something in the regular stores and not the plus size store.  I can't wait.  I am engaged to be married to Tony on 4/18/09.  That's right I had WLS 5 weeks before my wedding.  Tony had Lap RNY on 12/1/08 and has lost almost 90 lbs.  I has been amazing watching the weight melt off of him and for some reason it is still hard for me to picture it melting off of me, like I said I have never been thin, but I CAN'T WAIT to be thin and healthy.  I truly believe it is my second chance at life, a new beginning, here is to healthy living.
