Well I survived!  Doctor had to do a partial stomach removal because of damage the lapband did.  On liquids, broth, jello etc.  Feel pretty good, will check back after I get out of the hospital.

Did my last test today before surgery.  My doctor wanted to make sure I had no blood clots in my legs.  I had to have a deep vein sonogram.  Results back already and everything is OK.  What a relief.  Would of been a drag  if it would have delayed my surgery that happens in 3 days.  Well the next time I report back I will be on the "bench" as they call it.  

Had a full day today.  Had my filter evaluation, anesthesia evaluation and my pre-op with the surgeon.  Everything when well, down 51 pounds to date (current 511).  The only hick-up was the surgeon wants  me to have a ultra sound on my legs to insure I have no existing blood clots.  I have this scheduled for 10/11.  So, if that tests proves ok then I get my filter installed on Monday 10/14 and the WLS surgery on 10/15.  Boy this was a long time coming and quite frankly I am a little tired of all the testing.  Ready to get on with it.  Try to get back next week......fingers crossed.

The doctors office called today and set my surgery date for Oct 15.  That's the good news, the bad news is he wants me to have a IVC Filter installed.  I have to go in for an evaluation for this and it will be put in the day before I have the operation.  Did some research on the web concerning this procedure and quite frankly it sounds a little scary.  Has anyone ever had this done?  If so fill me on on how it went and specially how the insertion of the filter went.

Met with another phyc doctor yesterday to go over pain i would experience after the surgery.  At the end of the meeting the doc said I am ready to do this.  Got a call from the Bariatric Navigator latter that evening and she said all information will be submitted to the surgery scheduler and I can expect a call early next week on a date and when the pre-op visit with the surgeon will take place.  Hoping it will be in late Oct. or early Nov.  Looks like this if finally going to happen!

Got a call from Dr. Alfred today concerning the results of my Pysc test.  She said the only problem was I did not answer 20% of the questions concern alcohol consumption.  She said I was to answer all the question on the test.  My problem was that I don't drink and some of the questions if answered lead me to believe I was admitting that I drank.  I elected not to answer the questions.

She said that during our face to face conference before the test, she remembers me tell her I do not drink alcohol.  Anyway she said it was ok.  Also she determined that I might not be fully aware how much pain I may be in after the surgery due to the procedure and my physical size.  She recommended that I meet with a Dr. Tim Roisheld in the next couple of weeks to go over how I will feel after surgery.

I am waiting on a call from Jill the nurse navagator to see if I can combine this appointment with anything else to make the most of my trip to Columbus.  Be back when I know more.

Had my final meeting with the Dietician and met with the Psyc Doc for my examine.  The dietician was very happy that I lost so much weight over the last 4 weeks on my own.  I followed her instructions to the letter and it worked.  Eating out of a small bowl, making sure I had the correct amount of protein with a vegie along with eating 5-6 times per day really worked.  I counted calories just to see and I ranged between 1200-1500 per day.

The Psyc test was kinda a drag.  The first hour was ok talking to the doctor but the remaining 2 hours filling out the questionair seemed endless.  Got through it, hope they don't determine I am wacky.

The nurse navigator call the next day and was checking through my records to see if she had everything, forms filled out and so on.  She stated that since I am a self pay things should mover pretty fast now........hope a pre-op meeting date comes soon.  Check in later.

Been following the dietician's instructions.  Weighed in at 522, so lost 38# so far.  Have an appointment with psychologist and dietician next week.  Hope to get surgery date then.  Check back in then.

Had another session with the dietician which went well.  She is great and has lots of ideas about making very low calorie appealing.  Also setting  me up for how to eat after surgery.

Got weighed and am currently at 560.  I then met the surgeon Dr. Sonnanstine for the first time.  He told me that he would remove my band at the time of surgery.  Also he is sure I would be totally off insulin right after the operation.  I currently have 1 more appointment with the dietician and one with the phychologist on August 28th.  He stated that at that time, if approved by the dietician, phychologist and I have lost at least 30 pounds a surgery date will be set.  He expects it to be in October.  So now its all up to me to drop some weight.  I am going to do this!!

Had a Upper GI and a Gull Bladder sonagram tests done today.  I even got the results.  Everything ok, no stones and flow was unrestricted through my existing band.  I meet with the doctor for the first time on 7/24 and also the dietician for the 2nd time.  Feel ok.  Doesn't feel like I am loosing weight doing what the dietician in telling me to do.  Will update after I see the doctor, hopefully I will get a better idea of when the surgury will happen.
