Terri P.
i wasn't always huge and overweight, there was a little time period in my life where i was small, of course i was young...i still have vague memories of people telling me if i turned sideways the wind would take me away. i think it was about the 5th grade when my weight started getting out of control, im pretty sure thats when i realized i was the 2nd heaviest person in my grade.
im an expert in the Atkins Diet, as well as Weight Watchers. i did well with those diets, every single time i did them, all 20 or so attempts. i could lose some substancial weight, 20 to 50 lbs even. But it always came back as soon as i tried living like a normal person, meaning eating as smart as i could without allowing someone to look over my shoulder and see my weight, humiliate me if i gained, etc. i havent weighed less than 200 lbs in probably 23 years. i believe i weighted 179 when i married and im sure it didnt take but a few months to go over the 200 mark. Weight watchers helped me get down to 210 once, but thats about the time i got pregnant with my 2nd child and therefore gained another 60+ lbs, not losing a single pound even after the birth.
Anyway, since then my weight has been as far up as almost 275, for the last few years i have teeter tottered around the 240ish mark, give or take 10 lbs. My health has taken a nose dive, just like all the doctors predicted it would if i didnt lose the weight. i have diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.
So, thats my story and hopefully now that i am having surgery (my date is April 22, 2008) my story will finally change, for the better.
