Had the lap-band (4cc) in 2006. Lost weight, did GREAT for 5 years. Now, I have NO RESTRICTION at all. I was jerked around for a year by my doctor* putting in .25 fills and he wouldn't believe me when I told him I have no restriction. I found a new surgeon who is willing to help and the very first appointment he ordered a Fluoroscopy and saw the port was COMPLETELY upside down and leaked. *rolling my eyes* So glad I am with the new surgeon.
*If you are able to select your surgeon, you may want to avoid Alexander Onopchenko in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. It is definitely time for him to retire. He is the rudest, most arrogant surgeon any of us (a group of his patients who shared horror stories) have ever met. He judges you for mistakes with the band. He blames you for broken ports and leaks. He does not listen or take concerns seriously. This was my story. He could have easily ordered a fluoroscopy to see the tube was broken and the port was completely upside-down but he just blindly stabbed away ( I had to beg for him to numb me and it hurt!!!) so, he just blindly injected the saline into me (not the flipped port) for a year (6 times!!!) until I was able to find another surgeon to take me. He is a great salesman at the seminars though!
