Feeling discouraged...

Apr 14, 2011

Hi everyone!  I haven't posted here for a while.  I have been busy dealing with getting my cardiology clearance.  After multiple tests (EKG, Echo, Thallium stress Echo and dubutaline stress Echo).  I had my followup with my cardiologist today and the two MD's in the Kaiser office both agreed that I needed to have angioplasty with stents done before I can be approved for WLS.  They both agree I NEED the WLS, but I have to do this first in order to live through the surgery. Sooo, I have an appointment for my angio on May 2nd and my primary cardiologist says I should be good to go by July for WLS.  With this setback, I am behind schedule by about 2 months now....bummmmmer!!  But, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do....right?  I'll keep ya posted here...I am still too shy to post on the message boards.  Thanks for listening.  ~Cathryn

Last Psych. app't...

Mar 03, 2011

Hooooorrrraaaayyyy!!!  My final Psych. app't. is done, my Echocardiogram is done, Pap done, Nut. app't. done, 10% weight loss done.  Only my Thallium stress test (Monday, 3/7/11) left to do.  Got a call from the Bariatric coordinator today and she is putting my paperwork in for the surgeon to review....so, I should have my date soon!  YAY!!  It has taken me 6 months so far to get to this place.  Waiting is agony!  I NEED this surgery so much...each day I go without it, I feel like I am a little closer to dying.  So, after waiting this long...what's a little bit more in the whole scheme of things?  "Patience is a virtue"....I'm told.  Will update on Monday after my 4-hour stress test.  Please, keep me in your prayers?  ~Cathryn

Update

Feb 16, 2011

Hi all!  I haven't updated lately...been very sick with a stomach virus for the past 2 weeks....ugh!!!!  I have my psych. eval. appointment finally and now all I have to get done are my echocardiogram and thallium stress test to get my clearance from cardiologist.

The more I lurk on the OH boards the more I am thinking of the DS instead of the RNY.  Not sure if Kaiser will do that procedure, but can't hurt to ask, eh?    Seems to me, for my health issues, the DS would be a better fix for me.  Especially if I want to reverse my diabetes and my CHF forever.  I will have to put some thought into this and do more research.

Hope you all are doing well.  ~Cathy

Consult went well.

Jan 11, 2011

Well, yesterday (Monday, 1/10/2011) I went for my first meeting with my surgeon.  She is a lovely MD named Christine Chu, at Kaiser Fremont.  She explained everything and went over the most thorough physical history I have ever gone through with a doctor.  Nothing was too small for her to skip over.  I have such confidence in her that I am sure she will do her best for me.  The rest of the staff at Kaiser Fremon were just as warm and professional.  I also met with the Nutritionist who went over the vitamins and the amounts/types of food I will be eating post op.  I have a list of a few things I need to do before I get my date, but I am in the loop now.  YAY!  I will need to lose 17 more pounds (already lost 15 since orientation), get some tests done and a psych.eval.  Then.....I should be good to go!  Hopefully it won't take too long to get everything done.
