Yes, I'm depressed... yes, I'm having a pity party.... yes, I know I'll get over it...

I had my surgeon consult Wednesday, and like I suspected, I have to do
the  6 month "doctor supervised" diet before I can even submit the paperwork to the insurance company for approval. The 4 years of him recording my weight and telling me to lose the said insulation doesn't count. He never actually put me on a diet. YAY. I guess the insurance companies think we are totally ignorant. Like the bigger our asses get, the smaller our brains get. Like we can't figure out what a diet is and how to do one. I have been on an 800 calorie a day diet and GAINED weight. I've been on Alli (which is the same thing as Xenical{Orlistat}) and lost a whopping 12 pounds. Which is OK if you don't think of the wonderful "treatment effects", ie., sliding off of the couch  from all of the oil seeping out of your bum. You name it, just like all of you, I've been on it.

But now my insurance company wants me to go on yet another diet. They want to keep paying for the doctors office visits and god only knows what he's going to try me on now. They are going to expect some sort of exercise that isn't going to happen until I lose at least 50 pounds. What part of "my knees can hardly hold me up to walk to the mailbox so kiss your grand ideas of me sprinting on a treadmil goodbye" doesn't translate into english?

I had my infosession today at the surgery center. This is the second one that I have been to, so it wasn't really a big deal. I just hope that I'll be able to use this surgeon. I have my initial consult on May 6th, 2009 with Dr. Kent at Georgia Coast Surgical. I really liked him. He's straightforward with a sense of humor. That's kinda rare in doctors :~)

Below are pics of my twin sons, Matthew and Joshua, who are 11. They were taken with a web cam, so, sorry about the quality. Yes... those are my jeans. Size 22W.

I'll post again after my consult!

Hey y'all! Went to the doctor yesterday (GP). He agreed that the Lap Band would be the way to go, YAAAAY! It could have something to do with me gaining 26+ pounds since the last time I went to him (in 2005). He also found that I have bursitis in my hips and knees (4 shots in those joints yesterday, OUCH!) and plantar fasciitis of the right heel. Basically my joints are finally tired of carrying around all of this weight. So, anyway... I go to the seminar at the surgeons office this coming Saturday. My GP said that it will more than likely be a go when it's left up to the insurance office and that he will help me whatever way he can. He agrees that after all of the failed diets, that my only other option to be healthy is WLS. So now that I FINALLY got this ball rolling, let's see how long everything is going to take. Later :~)

Getting started

Apr 08, 2009

I called my GP to get an appointment for a physical today. The appointment is set for 4/20/09. I haven't been to this doctor in 4 years (we moved out of town and now we're back), hopefully he still has my medical records from back then, if not, then I will have to do a 6 month supervised diet with him before I can have the surgery. I will wait that long if I have to, I've waited this long just to have an insurance company that will cover the surgery.

I also set up a time to have the seminar that most surgeons now require. I have been to one in Gainesville already, but that was for a different surgeon. This one will be Monday evening (04/13/09) with Doctors Henderson and Kent here in Brunswick at the Georgia Coast Surgical office. My mother-in-law said that she would go with me. I hate going places alone :)

I had a little disappointment last night. While I was talking with my DH on the phone (he was on duty at the FD), I asked him about one of the firefighters that is having the LapBand done. He said that the firefighter is paying about $1700.00 out of pocket. That got me a little upset, trying to figure out where we would come up with the money, but now I am at the point that I know everything happens for a reason and that everything happens in its own time. If I am meant to have this surgery, then everything will fall in place.
