Consult and computer Pshyc test done!

Feb 01, 2008

Well Thursday (1-31-08) I met with Dorothy for my nurse consult.  She was very nice and answered my questions and put me at ease about the insurance company.  She said my Co. is usually pretty good to deal with and I should have no problems.

I also did my computer pshycological testing- boy they really repeat questions just in different ways- LOL

Next step- I meet with the pshycologist Monday and have some lab work done.  Oh and I need to get a sleep study scheduled- still have not heard back from them.  Dorothy said my initial paperwork I filled out on "sleepiness" showed it may be a concern and if I do have sleep apnea I will need to get a "sleep machine" and be on it for 2 full weeks before the surgery.

Otherwise she thinks we can move along fairly quickly < My Happy face again >  Feeling much better!

Discouraged!!!

Jan 23, 2008

I was so excited the nurse called today to set up my nurse consultation, my psych test and psych appt.  So I thought here we goooooooooo.

I call my insurance just to see what is required before they approve WLS-  She tells me 60 BMI... I never expected that as everyone had always told me 40 BMI, She also said 12 months doctor directed dieting... I have been dieting for YEARS, many times Doctor recommended but never did a monthly check in.

I have seen my PCP many times in the last 3.5 months as my blood work has been off since my physical in Oct.  I don't suppose that will count and now I have been classified as diabetic.

I don't know if I should keep these appointments just to be told my insurance will not approve me or if I should talk to my PCP about a 12 month diet- Problem is my husband's employer changes insurance almost every year and who knows if we will have Prefered One in 2009

Ughhhhhhhhhh What to do ?!?!?!?!?

Patience is a virtue

Ok all my initial paper work is in.  Now I sit back and wait to hear from the nurse clinicians to see if I am a canidate for WLS.  I know this all takes time, but I want this so bad that time seems to have really slowed- LOL

Just Begining

Jan 14, 2008

Well tomorrow night is my 1st official session to check into my option for bariatric surgery.  I am pretty excited and I have a lot of questions.

My Father had the Roux-en-Y bypass done 18 months ago and he has met his goal weight.  My Mother just did the lap band the end of November and has lost about 20 pounds.  They both feel great and say they would have loved to do this when they were younger instead of fighting with their weight- Soooo  here I am.  Obviously being overweight runs in my family.

I have 2 kids- teenagers and I want to be healthy and active to enjoy the things they do and it is hard now.  My knees hurt going down stairs so I avoid them.  I hate being seen in a swim suit so while they hit the water parks I sit on the side and read a book.  and it goes on like this with everything...

After tomorrow I should have a better idea on all this- hoping anyway
