I have been to see the nutritionist, and guess what! I have lost a total of 8 pounds since seeing Dr. Mozazzez on the 1st. If you take my weight with my shoes on it is 6...but I am still happy! 7-8 pounds to go! Yahhhhooo! Linda, the nutritionist said I was doing great and to keep up what I was doing and I will see her on the 19th for the 4 hour nutrition class.
I got a call on the 10th and my sleep consultation was moved to August 31st..I am happy about that as well. Hopefully I won't need the sleep study.
I had one of my visits for the psychological evaluations, I am scheduled for 2 more in the next 4 weeks. The Dr. made me upset because she wanted to evaluate me because I said I was an emotional eater...well I am emotional because I am FAT.....DUHHHHH...I won't be once I lose weight! Sheesh! I will keep you posted on this.....

I have scheduled my sleep consultation and psychological assessment. My sleep consult is not until Sept 21....ugh! My psych assessment is on August 15th, as well as my visit with the Nutritionist Linda Aills. I am looking forward to these visits so it will bring me one step closer to having the surgery. I do find it very difficult to only eat 70g protein and 30 carbs. I have to lose 10-15 pounds before surgery to shrink my liver, Dr. Moazzezz says this is normal before surgery. It is hard though...what do I eat?? I know I have to do this if I want to have the surgery, but it's hard when I don't know what to eat and hard to stay away from carbs.
Anyway, Until the next time...... good luck to everyone!

I had my consult with Dr. Moazzez, I was so excited until I had to wait almost 2 hours to be seen. My appointment was at 1:45p and I wasn't seen until 3:15p. I was so ready to go by the time I was seen, but I really want this so I stuck it out. :o) My BMI has increased to 39.7, according to their chart, which is good because it was 38. I asked what he thought the insurance would say, whether they would approve or not and he said I shouldn't worry because I meet the criteria. I am not going to get really excited until I get approved.
I am going to do the Psych Consult and the Sleep consult, that's what they told me to do first. I am one step closer....

My PCP doctor's office called to let me know my letter of recommendation was available for pickup. I am so glad she wrote this letter. I hope it helps with the approval process when we get to that point. At this time I am just counting down the days until the 1st.
My appointment is with Dr. Moazezz on August 1st. I can't believe I have to wait a month. But I guess it's better than waiting 2 or 3. I can't wait!! :o)

I made an appointment with my PCP for referral to Dr. Moazzez, as I have decided to go with him. He seems very educated and seems like he is a very nice doctor. I am getting excited!!!

I have attended the seminar at INOVA Fair Oaks, Dr. Moazzez conducted this seminar, and after getting tons of information.
I have decided not to go with the LAP band for these reasons:
1. Aetna does not cover it unless you have certain conditions, and I do not meet this criteria.
2. There are some complications, I dont want.
I have decided to go with the Gastric Bypass Laparoscopically. I will make an appointment with my PCP sometime in July when my new Insurance goes into effect.

I just learned from my work last week that they are having open enrollment and I can now change my insurance to Aetna. I am so excited because I have done tons of research and they do cover the LAP band. I have decided to go with this one because I want to be able to have children after I lose weight and it is adjustable for women who become pregnant. I think I might go with Dr. Chebli..(hope I spelled it right), I have heard so many good things about him. I have signed up for the seminar on June 23rd.
I am 28 and have been married for 6-going on 7 yrs (Sept. 19th). My weight has been an issue ever since I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and was diganosed with Insulin Resistance (IR). I have tried Weight Watchers(WW) 3 times and have lost 15 pounds and then nothing....I gain it all back and I am tired of living this way and I want to be healthy, I want to be able to look at myself and like what I see, and want my husband to like what he sees too...but most of all I want to do it for myself...I want to be healthy and this will help me to become healthier and stronger and have will power to go out and do stuff....
I weigh (at last weighin at WW was 235, gained 2 pounds, was 232.8):o(
BMI is 38.
I will keep this updated as new stuff arise.
