Checking in over 3.5 yrs post op
Jan 14, 2016
I've been away for quite awhile, forgot password and suddenly decided to try again. ..so here I am, obviously I remembered it, lol. I'm doing good, going on 5 yrs post op, this spring. I live in Alaska still.....so I moved a treadmill in my living room to help me stay fit through my least favorite time of the year. I still need to improve on my fluids, my protein intake should be more.....but I'm not always hungry, but I do try. I would ld like to get down to 123 but don't think that's going to happen..... my body kinda likes where it's at...and it's really no big deal, I'm content either way, it's just my favorite jeans fit best at 123... but I think my body likes 125 better and has comfortably settled at that. So as long as I continue to eat sensible and work out, the holidays aren't a real threat, I enjoy cooking for others and can easily avoid junk if I want to, it's pop that's my craving. But I fight it.
I'll post a pict from last xmas, as I haven't taken any recent pics, but I shld Cuz my hair has finally grown out some since I chopped it off last xmas.Big mistake... lol
Look fwd to making lot's of new friends here, I missed the support and feedback and everything. Congrats to everyone here!!
Happy Holidays

3 year Anniversary approaching
Feb 04, 2014
I will update with a recent photo here soon enuff. I am well and enjoying a mild winter
so far...in Alaska. Im a size small in dresses and shirts and wearing a size 4 in pants.
I still love my oversized house pants though...that'll never change. I have a nice wardrobe
now. Wont wear a bikini but I do wear swimsuits & shorts, skirts n summer dresses.
Bought a beautiful dress to wear somewhere special....maybe this summer...if Im
able to go some where for vacation. Im still monitoring my iron...I was very very low at one time...now
my labs are healthy and on track. STILL...Taking vitamin D and sublingual B12 on top of my multi vitamins .
My energy level varries on whether I forget my vitamins..trying harder not to. My cravings for things I shldnt
eat are wayyyy under control...My taste buds changed sooo much (for me) after my VSG.
This year I want to begin Yoga and start biking. Last year I was an avid hiker my last trip being in the rocky mtns
of Alaska...a 10 mile boulder hopping trek in one afternoon. Amazing!!!
I love summer And hate winter but my husbands wk is here...so Immma stuck!
Good luck to all and continue the journey to a better you!! Im 123 lbs now & 5'3.

I have stayed active through out this summer mostly landscaping and walking. I walk about 5 miles daily and drink water although not as much as I should. Working on that. I am on vitamins and do not get my protien AT ALL from drinks, but food. I am doing great. My desire for sweets has gone down big time & I can honestly say my protiens are more appealing than some desserts. Its like a flip was switched and your body just craves something else. I like that. Often I am not hungry and having no hunger gland in my body helps with that, I suppose. But I do eat regularly and I am satisfied and healthy. I am going to work more now on muscle tone and see if I can prepare for a 5 k run with my husband who is trying to loose weight, not through surgery, but through an online app which is a lot like weight watchers. LOOSE IT.
Hes doing great, and has no interest in surgery. Thats fine.
Life is good and as ALWAYS I owe it ALL to my surgeon Dr. Kelly of TJ. He is super & I miss his smiling face. I hope he gets on this website and checks the progress of his past patients. We all adore him & owe him so much!! I know I do!
Take care all..... keep at it, it only gets better. Will update with recent pics. later. soon. I mean.... lol : )

one year post op
May 12, 2012
Feeling great. weigh 130 lbs. BMI 23, don't really feel the need to loose more. I can now bend & tie my shoes as I wanted to and can now move around freely. No asthma, no knee and joint pain, no back pain, no frequent urination at night, Sex drive has gone down, which is weird. Seem to be more aware of people who are over weight & shld contemplate surgery, but I know its thier choice. Life is great & I'm happy for my change. The sleeve was the best decision I ever made and the removal of the hunger gland helps. Having a sense of restriction from this surgery is so beneficial. I love Dr. Kelly!!!!!!
WEIGHTLOSS GOAL ACHIEVED!! TODAY!!!
Feb 19, 2012
The only thing that sometimes bothers me is my hip joint and the top part of my (L) foot arch, sometimes feels weakened, b/c I have lost alot of muscle but Iam working on getting stronger, so hopefully that improves in time. I am on my vitamins, which I hate; but continue to take, I have to. I am a size 6 and feel great. Dont wanna get no skinner. Working to maintain this weight. Haven't had NO hair loss, No problems post surgery with my tum or incisions. My restriction is working excellent and the removal of my hunger glad was sure genius! I am a happy camper. Even my shoes fit bigger cuz my shoe size has appeared to have gone down as well, cuz tonight my heels were loose on my feet. lol
Oh yea the only thing that bothers me after the weightloss, now 77 lbs down, I FEEL like I have lost too much of the fat from my face, like the under eye area and not too happy with the lil sagging there, but I use professional face creams and excellent cosmetics, just wish I didn't have to, that's all.
Other than that, everything is great. I love my new life. I feel great. My heart rate after running for 20 minutes was wayyy lower than it had ever been before. I was so stoked!
I want to thank Dr. Ramos Kelly for giving me a new life!!!!
5 lbs to Goal.

Feliz Navidad! 8 lbs to my GOAL!!
Dec 25, 2011
Yay!! So basically I said Merry X-Mas, I got 8 lbs to go to my goal weight and I am happy with that and what about YOU!!?? lol
I did really really well with my eating for Christmas! This surgery is simply amazing. I didn't feel hunger the whole time I was cooking about eight hours or more, I was made to remind myself to eat, that happens sometimes, I get really into something & then before I know it.....it's like the afternoon. But NOW I am back to working FT and I eat a lil something in the morning & luch is routine, as my break is the same time everyday, so I eat lunch for sure. I also do protein snacks, not shakes, don't like em. I have not been hitting the gym as often as I should and I will be trying harder to go even if I am tired from work. I need to tone my arms. I know I am not eating enough if my body is super cold. I have less insulation now so I know I am going to be cold but I know the difference from being cold and just not eating enough. I am pretty good at eating my proteins first and rarely have any dessert. I would trade pie for a nice salad anyday, but often after my proteiens I just don't have the space. I do drink pop, just cant & wont give that up and I am totally fine. So I know that was all hype about the no pop thing or maybe that is just something for the RNY, not the Sleeve. Removing the hunger gland is the best thing ever and the tiny tum I have allowed me to almost reach my weight loss goal. I am only 8 lil pounds away from my goal. I am incredibly thankful to DR. Ramos Kelly, my miracle worker and saviour. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks to God for guiding Dr. Kellys hand in my surgery & keeping me safe. My family has been great throughout the process and my daughter now has a new perspective on just what it is like to be heavy and then to not be so heavy. She has seen my transformation and realizes the surgery comes with sacrifice and effort. It's not easy but it does get easier as you go along, does that make sense. I am 8 months out. I feel great and am uploading some new picts to show my new look! If your contemplating the sleeve, go for it, wish I had done it years ago, in my 30's not my 40's. Oh well.
My 14th yr Anniversary is on Dec. 31st. Looking fwd to buying a nice dress to wear. We'll see. : )
Happy Holidays. Everyone!
10 lbs to goal weight!!!
Dec 01, 2011
I'm not so motivated about going to the gym these days, I need to tho, it is expensive, it has been so miserably cold out & i get cold sooo fast after dropping weight. Learning to dress better, have to no choice. My last lbs are sooooo hard to loose, just don't want to go away, I'm not sad, heck I am almost there, but it is a s low process for these last 10 lbs.
I am in a size small shirts, sometimes medium, but mostly small, and a size 8 in pants. I wear a size medium in winter coat (North Face) which if anyone owns one, you know the sizes run incredredibly small. It's amazing I fit it. lol
I now have an assortment of jeans that I bought at Kohls in the Juniors Dept. They are size 9 and fit big but I am going to get my use outta them & sell on Ebay in the spring. I bought a nice dress for my Anniversary, which is Dec. 31st. Will be 14 or 15 years....whos really counting when youhave such a great relationship, anyway. lol
Daughters doing great in college & will be home on the 19th so glad, I miss her. I had hoped to reach my goal by Xmas but don't think that is gonna happen. But I got super close and I am only over 7 months post op. Hope everyone is doing well.
Talk to you all soon!!
Happy Holidays!!
