First Doctor Appointment

Met with my Doctor yesterday. I have officially lost 6 pounds in four days (346 pounds). First fill appointment set for 5 weeks from now. Feeling great. I just plan on staying focused on the positive and not worrying about anything else. It is a great day to be Craig!

Wow, that was easy. After all of the stupid stuff that has happened, this was a non-event. Went in at 6:30 AM, surgery at 8:30 and in recovery 70 minutes later. Approximately 10% of the pain I experienced after the first attempt. I could have easily come home yesterday but hospitals are just not very flexible. No problem getting liquids in and I am feeling fine. i have a follow up appointment with Dr Johnell Monday. Came home at 352 pounds.

I have to do the stupid pre-op class again even though the class I was originally in was a lap band class that they added the RNY info for me. I have done the whole thing before so Monday will be VERY boring. One week until I start all over. I am excited to get this done. I have to go to SoCal six days after the surgery for a meeting with a client. That is going to suck but it is just for the day. My travel schedule is stupid right now, I had to fly to Raleigh NC for a 4 hour meeting yesterday morning. There is not a two week period through June that I am not traveling this year. Kind of hard to schedule a personal life. I had the appointment with the Orthopedic surgeon on Monday and he said I am a very good candidate for hip resurfacing. Unfortunately, he will not perform the surgery until I am under 300 pounds. So it looks like Late May after I get back from China. I am going to need some very good drugs to get through the next few months as the pain in my hip is getting very bad.

It turns out asking sweetly works. I am scheduled for lap band surgery on February 1st. Very excited to get this done.

Everything checked out OK. Doctor wants to wait two months for LapBand so I am going forward with hip replacement. That will allow me to start excercising.

Well, halfway through the operation they ran into a problem. My doctor had bisected the small intestine and ran into difficulty moving it up to where the pouch was going to be. It turns out I have a mass in my lower abdomen that prevents the intestine from being moved. RNY is no longer an option for me. They did a biopsy and put me back together. They did a cat scan and it appears thet the mass is benign but we are waiting on the biopsy results next week. If everything is OK and it appears that it is, I will start over with a Lap Band operation in about a month. Man, it sucks to be this sore for nothing. Major disappointment.

The weather service just issued a winter storm watch for Thursday night until Friday noon, If this screws up my surgery again I am going to be pissed. I won't be able to be pissed at anyone in particular but that will just make it worse. You would think God would know that I have plans.

OK, it is 7:00 am on Christmas morning. We are waiting for my 15 year old daughter to wake up and it is killing my 14 year old son. He does not think this is fair. I was sitting on the sofa thinking that this will be my last fat Christmas. That means that next year I will let someone else take pictures and video so I will actually be in some of the photos. I wonder if my family realizes that is why I take all of the pictures? They probably think it is just another thing I think I do better so I won't let them do it :)

OK, just got the call. My new surgery date is next Friday, December 29th. I cannot wait to get this done.

OK, I should be in surgery right now. Got the call yesterday that the hospital was closed except for emergencies. Two feet of snow and 40 mph winds will do that. Very disappointing but what can you do? I will not find out until tomorrow when they can re-schedule. Will try to get it done next week as I have already paid the max out of pocket on the insurance for this year. A nice day trapped at home with the wife and kids as the entire eastern half of the state of Colorado is shut down. Snow has just ended and it looks like the sun is coming out. It is going to be a beautiful day. Hey! I may be able to eat on Christmas.
