My Wife is getting surgery on Monday, June 14th.
I am just here to support her and read about other people on the same venture to learn more about how my wife is feeling about things and what she has to look forward to.

My wife had her surgery five months ago.  She is looking and feeling great.  She is down an incredible 80 pounds!  I have realized that the surgery was just a tool.  An incredible tool!  It has been up to her to eat right and work out.  She is so driven to work out EVERYDAY!  In order to support her, I too go to the gym whenever I can.  I am a firefighter and work one day on and then two days off.  On my days off, I am there with her.  Not only for her, but for me too!  I have lost some weight and am starting to get a little muscle in this body.

I am so proud of Terry in her journey!

I can't believe this but I am contemplating Weight Loss Surgery now.  My wife is a very succesful WLS patient and I have been there for her the last two years.

I have slowly been gaining weight and just realized that I am a sick person!
I take meds for:
#1  GERD
#2 elevated cholesterol
#3 depression
and have recently had surgery for Neuropathy in my feet.
the last couple of weeks I got my yearly labs back and found out that my glucose level is high.  Not diabetic yet but high!

I weigh in at almost 260 pounds which give me a BMI over 35.

Even though I am obese and not morbidly obese, I realize that I need to loose weight now!  After all, I am fifty two years old.  I checked with my insurance company and they do cover WLS for people that have a "medical Necessity"  With a BMI and these co-morbidities, I believe that I am a candidate.

I have an appointment with Dr. McDaniel on Next Thursday and will go from there.   The have already reviewed my application  and called my insurance company so I do believe that they think that I am a contender.

OH well, here I go........................

WOW!  I haven't posted in quite a while.  My insurance paid for my gastric banding surgery!  I am now seven months out and have reached my goal weight of 185 pounds!  Yes, I have lost about eighty pounds in six months.

Now the hard part.  Trying not to develop bad habits.
