It feels like I have been on the road to get this surgery for a while and it's so frustrating!  I will be done my weight classes the first week of August and I was trying to figure out when I would have my surgery going on how fast they've been calling people back and it seems that it won't be until October-November!  That just seems to far away!!  I'm so tired of being overweight! 

I just went to my second one yesterday.  I am a little nervous because I have missed the past 2 classes (they are twice a month) due my family getting sick around the clock practically.  The classes are super boring, but I am getting some good information out of it.  My weight at orientation was 251, then my weight at my first classes (1 month ago) was 247 and yesterday my weight was 244.  So, I am slowly losing the weight like they said we have to to let them know that we are serious.  I am so excited to get this surgery and I hope these next few months fly by!!!

So my insurance company has decided to send me to the Portsmouth Navy Hospital, and at first I wasn't very excited about that.  I have had a bad experience at that hospital before (in the ER) and just military facilities are not very good in my opinion.  But, I have to say, that at orientation I was very impressed with how well put together the class was.  It was very informative (although I knew just about everything they had discussed from prior research) and everyone was generally really nice and personable.  I am pretty bummed about how long the waiting list is.  I am trying to go back to school this fall and they pretty much told us that we should expect to have surgery about 8 months from today or 5-6 months from our first initial visit with the surgeon.  I am  now waiting for them to call me to set up that appointment. 
I am still so paranoid that for some reason I won't get the surgery.  I know that I qualify for it as far as bmi goes and I have some other factors that might help (I had gestational diabetes, arthritis, sore joints).  I am really going to try to stick to their diet they give me before surgery because I am serious about losing this weight.  Until I see the approval letter from Tricare, I'm going to be a mess! 

I saw my PCP yesterday and it went great!  Come to find out, my pcp had WLS since the last time I saw her!  That really made me feel so much more comfortable discussing this with her.  I put in a referral to hopefully see Dr Spencer and I am going to a seminar next week!

I decided not too long ago that I want to start looking into getting WLS.  I feel like I have been overweight for my whole life and it's time for me to take charge.  Dieting just doesn't work for me and it's so frustrating!  I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and they said that if I don't lose weight soon then I will more than likely get type 1 (or was it type 2?) diabetes soon!  That was a HUGE wake up call! 

I think I found the surgeon that I want to use and now I just need to make an appointment with my PCP to discuss getting a referral to go see the surgeon.  I am praying that I won't have any issues getting approved for this surgery and I hope to have the surgery around April/May since I am still breastfeeding my son and want to continue to do so until then.
