THOSE BORN 1920-1979
READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH BY JAY LENO. IF YOU DON'T READ ANYTHING ELSE---VERY WELL STATED
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright color ed lead-based paints.
We had no child proof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle..
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because,
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day.And we were OK.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ridedown the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into< /FONT> the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all,no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chatrooms... .....
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside an d found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!
< /FONT>
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .
While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!
The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:
'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'
For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us...go ahead and delete this.
For the rest of us...pass this ON!

Let us thank God for those people who take pleasure in helping others. No task is too small for them, and they rejoice in doing good. They do not seek any reward, except for making life richer and easier for their fellowmen. To forget about yourself in the service of others, is the path to a full and satisfying life. Find somebody who is in need. A lonely person might welcome friendship; someone who is confused will appreciate an understanding listener; a single mother might welcome a responsible child-minder so that she can go out for an evening. There are so many different ways in which to help. while you are helping others, you will receive a rich blessing as your reward. Every good deed that is performed in the Name of Christ bestows a blessing on both the donor and the receiver.
Most of all, it brings glory to His Name.

Peace,Patience and Forgiveness....
Mar 09, 2009
Peace :
It is peace that enabl es us to live peace fully with our fello wman. We becom e messe ngers of peace as we invol ve ourse lves in activ ities that promo te peace . This peace perme ates famil ies, bring joy and harmo ny becau se of its influ ence on famil y membe rs. It creat es spiri tual unity and toget herne ss that leads to peace under the guida nce of god. peace grows in us as one of the fruit s of holy spiri t. All this leads to peace in our souls , becau se we are now "all right " in our heart s.
Patie nce:
There are many occas ions when we are appro ached for some advic e, suppo rt or compa nions hip, and so often we respo nd only by showi ng our impat ience . We are press ed for time; We have very busy sched ules; we are worki ng to beat the clock . We show it in the hurri ed way in which we try to get rid of peopl e in distr ess, so that we can rush on to whate ver is demam nding our atten tion. This leave s the other perso n feeli ng that he is nothi ng more then an annoy ing intru der who has to be pushe d aside . You shoul d never show impat ience or irrit ation when you are deali ng with distr ess of other peopl e. Despi te your busy life Treat peopl e with the same patie nce, compa ssion and empat hy that chris t did.
Forgi venes s:
It is one of life' s great arts to know what to forge t and what to remem ber. Peopl e becom e colle ctors of the griev ances and this poiso ns their souls and drive s the love from the heart s. Many peopl e nurtu re their anger to keep it glowi ng; they brood on the mista kes made again st them. Then the griev ances beget s a whole strin g of littl e ones, Later , it becom es impos sible for them to forge t. Chris t taugh t the great lesso n of forge t- ing and forgi ving. If you keep recor d of the wrong s commi tted again st you, you are incli ned to miss the noble . good and beaut iful thing s in life. This takes us back to the point of depar ture for all of this: the abili ty to forgi ve. If you canno t forgi ve, you keep recor d of the wrong s; if you keep recor d of the wrong s, you gradu ally lose love from your heart ..

Value
Mar 09, 2009
A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, He asked
"Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up.
He said, " I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this."
He proceeded to crumble the dollar bill up.
He then asked, "Who still wants it?"
Still hands were up in the air.
"Well", he replied, "What if I do this?"
and he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor
with his shoe.
He picked it up, now all crumbled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt
by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as though we are worthless. but no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special-Don't ever forget it!

Building Your House
Mar 09, 2009
An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business to live a more leisurely life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week, but he wanted to retire. they could get by.
The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go & asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. the carpenter said yes, but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work.
He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.
When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house.
Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, "This is your house... my gift to you."
The carpenter was shocked!
What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.
So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into building. Then, with
a shock, we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we would do it much differently.
But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. someone once said, "Life is a do-it-yourself project." Your attitude, and choices you make today, help build the "house" You will live in tomorrow.
Therefore,
Build Wisely
