Ok... so, I've struggled with my weight since... well, all my life (that'd be 29 years). My mom and dad were concerned about my weight when I was 3 and took me to the doc to find out what was wrong. The doctor said I would just get taller and slim down. WOW... I should be like 8 feet by now.

So, all through school I was pretty heavy. In college I stopped having a monthly cycle, and after about 6 months of this, I finally talked to my mom about it. I saw a doctor and was told it was stress... put on birth control....and sent on my way. Everything began running somewhat normally (whatever normal is...)again. I went off BC several months later, and did OK until about 6 years ago. This time I asked the doc about Polycyctic Ovarian Syndrome. They did all kinds of tests (all which came back normal)...but concluded that I probably do have PCOS. ( Some facial hair... and no ovulation or cycles.)

Anyhoo... here I am several years later, and still very heavy. I met the man of my dreams four years ago, and have been very happily married for 3 years. He is the most amazing, supportive person I have ever known. We began trying to have kids shortly after getting married. (I knew we'd have issues....) After a year of nothing, we began fertility stuff.... and, still nothing. I knew I had to lose weight, and was feeling so overwhelmed with the amount that had to be lost. People would say.... "Oh, just a couple pounds a week...and before you know it, it'll be gone."  I calculated that out in my head and was pretty excited to learn that I'd be just 80 years old when I could finally conceive!! Just kidding...but, it would be a LONG time... and that is IF I could have the discipline to change my habits.

I had been considering WLS, and talked to my husband and family about it. My dad has also struggled with his weight his entire life. My dad said he would have the surgery so I could see what all was involved.... and decide if it was for me. That was the most amazing blessing.  He had Gastric Bypass surgery in July (06'). He has done SOOOOO well. He's lost all of his weight, and walks 3 miles each morning. He's very happy and LOVING his new energy. My mom was always pretty slim, but has lost 35-40 pounds with my dad. They look so great!

So, after much prayer and consideration, my husband and I decided this would be a good choice for me. I have had to go through 6 months of classes, but am so happy to have had that information. Looks like my GB will be this June (07'). I'm so excited about my new life. My husband has been amazing through it all. I feel so blessed to have so much support from my family.

Soooo.... here we go.
