Ocala Regional Medical Center (COE)

"The staff was awesome, knowledgable and caring. Dr. Overcash is a true professinal in this field. I think I made the right choice."

William Overcash

"Dr. Overcash is one of the most knowledgable and professional surgeons in this type of specialization. He is very serious and very demanding when it comes to what he expects from you and how you will deal with all of the changes that your body and you as a person will encounter afer undergoing this surgery. He will push you to the limit in order to see you succeed. He understands the importance of not sugar coating the journey and knows that because of our compulssion he has to instill "tough love". My impression is still the same. He is the best in this field. However, I see that we now treat each other in a more friendly manner. We are not in a patient and Dr. status anymore. We are more friendly to each other and more open to joke with each other. The staff is professional, helpful and very friendly. The thing I liked the least about him is that I could never get him to sit down and discuss issues with me. He was always running. Patients should know that he is strict. He will push you to succeed and he is very serious about the patients behavior after surgery. Aftercare is important he monitors the patient closely. After care program consists of office visits and support groups. You are always welcome to call and talk to the staff about medical issues. The risks of undergoing this surgery were thouroughly explained to me. He left no surprises. He was extremely straight forward and explained all the pro and cons to me in a thorough and easy to understand manner. On a scale from 1 to 10, as a surgeon, I would rate him with an 11. He is a wonderful surgeon. I've lost 420 lbs. through this surgery. My whole life has changed. His surgical competence is outstanding!!! His bedsaide manners need to be polished a little. I think he is too serious sometimes and this seems to dehumanize him a little bit. He is a super talented, knowlegeable and very experienced person. This is what we need if we are going to use this surgery as an avenue to change our lives. These are my personal thoughts and I'm sure that many other patients may or may not agree with me. However, bedside manners are not going to bring me to health nor they will help me accomplish the goal which is to achieve a massive weight loss in order to regain contrlo of my life. Bedside support will come from your loved ones. "
