Darlene M.
I was never over-weight as a child....it wasn't until my teen years when I gained weight. Then, at the age of 18 I got very sick and lost a lot of weight, and maintained my slimness through my 20's. At 31 I married a wonderful man who at 3 squares per day, so i started gaining weight. But I really put the weight on when I quit smoking. Actually, I would quit for a month or two (or 6), gain 10 lbs, start smoking, never lose the weight, then quit again for a few months, gain 10-15 lbs more, start smoking again, and on and on until I got really really big. Then when I finally quit smoking for good I decided to diet..and diet....and diet.....would lose weight wonderfully, but would gain it right back the minute I let up a bit. Then it just got more and more difficult to lose weight....got so I had to starve myself and exercise 1-2 hrs per day just to keep the weight off that I had lost, and as soon as I let up even slightly I would gain it all back again. My body was my enemy....it just wanted FOOD....in the form of Krispy Creme's and Doritos! I think you all know the story......So now here I am, 46 years old with a BMI of >35 , cholesterol of >300 and triglycerides >900, a walking time-bomb for a coronary. My family history is rich in heart disease and diabetes too. I know I need to reduce my risk factors, and I need some help. I have finally learned that I cannot do it alone. With God on my side I am determined to get rid of this weight and live longer and healthier with the help of Dr Gluck!
