Ok, here I am, 2 weeks pre-op and just now cutting out caffeine, and starting the liquid protein diet. I bought "Jim's" protein powder (vanilla) at Dr. G's office, spent a fortune on it, and it's some of the worst tasting witches brew I've ever let pass my teeth. It about makes me barf! And on top of that I'm going through caffeine withdrawl (I confess, I had to have a diet Coke today....I was shaking too badly....it'll be my last, I semi-swear). So anyways, I switched to Carnation Instant Breakfast (no sugar added) with low fat Soy milk, which I really like. I also bought the cheap Whey protein powder at Walmart and am surprised at how good it is! So now that my blood sugar is fairly adjusted (I am sure I was on waaay to low carbs on Monday and Tuesday) I feel fine...as long as I remember to "eat" every 3 hrs and get my water in. I sure wish I would have slowly weaned myself off caffeine.....30 plus years of coffee and diet Coke addiction makes for WITHDRAWL MIGRAINES! Thank you Lord for Excedrin Migraine tabs!
