1 month post op - 43lbs gone!

Apr 13, 2009

Well, I'm 1 month out so far and down 43lbs!   I can't believe its only been a month and I've lost that much.

The best thing is that I don't feel hungry at all, once in a while I do if I haven't eaten for more than 4-5 hours, then I'm pretty hungry.  I eat a small amount and get full fairly quick.

My biggest concern/issue has been all the various ailments.  From leg cramps lasting 4-5 days, my foot hurting from walking or standing - it's swelled up quite a bit now.  Back/side pains that tend to show up when I lay down to sleep at night, a few pains here and there.  One of my friends mom has been 3 years out from having the RNY and he said that the first 6 months tends to show all kinds of off the wall ailments, and its part of it, but then gets back to normal.

I'm a bit tired of eating chicken when going out, lol.  I've never been a seafood person, even tried it all, including fresh lobster while in Maine!  I ventured a bit by having some seared Ahi Tuna when at Outback the other night, went down well, no taste that I could tell besides the pepper on the sides of it.  I need to start cooking more and finding more recipes for sure!

I've now gone on 3 trips, 2 out of the country.  I regret the 1st trip at 2 weeks out!  Only 2 days after having my staples removed I left the country for 3 days of work, Dr cleared me to go.  I was in some pain and had a hard time getting the right food.  I did manage though, but thought about it, and with a do-over, I would stay put at home.

I can honestly say that now I feel the weight loss, I feel lighter on my feet and overall.  I still haven't tried more/different exercises other than walking.  I'm looking forward to going bowling again and also riding my motorcycle (or at least able to ride it again).  Tomorrow is my Dr's appt, so hopefully I'll have more info on what I can and can't do and see how my progress stacks up.
