I sit here on the eve of my new birthday. The day I began a new life, one year ago. I feel really good about myself. Sometimes I feel that I am too confident, but I really like myself right now. Tomorrow will be one year after my surgery. I have lost 137 pounds. I started out at 277 and now I weight 140. I am wearing a size 6 pants and a small top. I totally believe this was the best decision I could have made, outside of marring my husband and having our daughter. If I had to, I would do it all over again.

Denise, I also have a hiatial hernia. I have had it since my pre op days. About the only relief I found pre op was to try and eat small meals several times a day, take Pepcid (a perscription strength) and pre op I also ate ice cream when it got especially bad. I know post op there are limited choices on the Ice cream, but if you can get the Blue Bunny Brand they make one that is made with Splenda instead of sugar. It is very good. Post Op, as long as I stay on the Pepcid I seem to do fine. I hope this helps Good Luck and I will keep you in my prayers. Tami

I too have an ulcer, mine was found only 2 months out. My symptoms were totally different. I was nauseous all the time, my gut burned so bad that drinking anything other than milk was impossible. I was constantly sick and riding in a car made me miserable. Once they found out I had the ulcer and I started medication I was 100000 times better. If it is an ulcer do not worry too much, the meds help alot.

Did you have your gallbladder removed during surgery? Your symptoms are exactly how I felt with my gallbladder. I was shocked when they told me it was my gallbladder. Had it taken out and those symptoms went away!!!!
