I am Denise from Washington State. I have a 2 1/2 year old son with Cerebral Palsy. I have been obese since I was a child. I have finally decided that WLS is what I need to do to be a healthier person and mother. I am at a point in my life that realize that I need to make better decisions for our future. My son is my world! I need to be able to care for him and at the size I am now it is becoming more difficult. I tried to get approval from my insurance for my surgery, however, they do not cover WLS. I was able to borrow the money to do the self-pay option. I have chosen the Northwest Weight Loss Surgery Center and Dr. Michaelson to do my surgery. I go in on April 5th for my intake appointment. I will meet with the nurses, dietician and doctor. I will get my surgery date that day too! YAY! At that point, I will need to go on a 3 shake, 1 lean cuisine diet for 2-3 weeks to loose a chunk of weight. If I loose the "chunk" of weight they want, they will proceed with my Lap-Band surgery. I am very nervous and excited! I am finally going to start my journey to a new, healthier life!
**UPDATE**
I went in on April 5th and everything looks good. However, the Dr. Michaelson wants me to get checked out for sleep apnea before surgery. I went in today, April 11th, for my pulmonary/sleep consultation and am scheduled to have an overnight sleep study April 21st. Once my sleep study is evaluated, the Dr said we could schedule surgery. My pre-op diet is a 12 day, 3-4 shake/1 Lean Cuisine a day....and the "chunk" of weight I need to loose is 15lbs. Not as bad as I thought it would be!! All is still going as planned, just not quite as fast as I had hoped. Anything this awesome and life changing is worth the wait.
**UPDATE**
May 31st....I finally had my surgery today!!!! I feel a bit sore. 
I've been able to drink water, broth and SF Popsicles. I'm going to have some tomato soup for dinner then pain meds and I'm off to bed in the recliner. I was nervous before surgery but the surgeon and staff were so awesome!! I am so excited to start my journey to a healthier me!!
