My DS Procedure

Jan 08, 2011

I had the Procedure on 12.21.2010 at University General in Houston by Dr. Felix Speigle.  The procedure itself and the recovery were not that bad at all.  I had a complication that cannot be blamed on the Dr. or the procedure.  I had a preexisting hernia and after the surgery a piece of belly fat tissue slipped down through the hernia and into my testicle.  The night after I went home my testicle becan to be painful and swell.  I wound up calling Dr. Speigle on Christmas night on his cell phone, and he set up for me to return to the hospital.  When I got there he examined me and immediately called a urologist due to my testicle was huge and swollen.  They performed an emergency Surgery with Dr. Speigle assisting, and found/removed the large blob of fat from my testicle.  I woke up from this surgery sore, with a stiched up incision in my testicle, and a drain tube sticking out of them.  I could barely walk, and felt like my intestines were falling out of my groin.  I felt sure that I still had a problem.  Dr. Speigle assured me that the discomfort I was in was due to swelling and from having a large chunk of fat in there where it did't belong.
This 2nd surgery prevented me from walking around as much as I should have been doing in recovery from the ds.   However, 2 weeks post op from the testicle surgery, and almost 3 weeks post op from the DS I feel pretty good.  Had I not had the problem with my testicle the DS would not have been that bad at all.

As far as eating goes its insane how little I can eat/want to eat.  I am slowly starting to eat more, but if I take a few extra bites I get really nausiated.  I went in to see the dietitian yesterday and have lost about 25 pounds in the 2.5 weeks since the DS.  I am starting to feel almost normal again, and excited about my weight loss to come.

IF ANYONE CONSIDERING BARIATRIC SURGERY LIVES ANYWHERE NEAR HOUSTON PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE USE DR SPEIGLE.....HE HAS BEEN GREAT.
