My name is Debbie. I am 48 years old. I have been a member of OH since May of O7 when I first started the process of trying to RNY. I have just found out that I have a tentative date of July 22 2008. My pre-op is July 14. I am having my RNY done At Duke weight loss center in Durham NC.
As for my "story" is it very common. Grew up in the south, lived on southern food, and LOVED it and still do, but I figure I've had my share of it and it's time to let it go for the most part. I've been on every diet Known to man and some man has never heard of before, as I'm sure a lot of you have. And guess what?... most of them worked! and I lost weight, sometimes a LOT of weight even like 120 lbs or so but for some reason it just never clicked in me how to keep it off. So I guess in my 48 years I've probably lost at least 500 lbs al together. Now who can relate to that?
Well I'm just hoping this tool will be the thing to help me keep it off and I think I'm old enough now and been thru enough and had long enough to think about it and I'm pretty sure when I lost it this time it won't come back. Mainly because I'm doing this entirely for health reasons. I'm sick to death of Hurting so badly every day of my life. My Knees are a great source of pain. I also have Diabetes, High blood pressure, depression etc. Of course I want to look better, I would be a liar if I said that I didn't but to be honest if I could live just like I am at the weight I am and be healthy and not hurt and be able to get around and live a seemingly normal life I would not have the RNY. I think I am beautiful most days(LOL)but I just can't stand the pain anymore and not being able to do what I want to do and live the life I believe I am intended to live. So here we go on this journey and I'm sure I will reveal more of my "story" on this journey and I will try to update for anyone who is interested.
By the way I do have a wonderful family. I have been married for nearly 20 years to a wonderful husband. He loves me thick or thin. I also have 2 sons. One is 24 and married and has 2 beautiful little girls, my darlin grandbabies, and I have a 18 year old son who still lives with me and probably always will. He has Down Syndrome and is the joy of my life. As I said earlier More later.
