Pre Admission Testing
Jun 28, 2007
Went to my pre admission testing and everything is a go for my surgery on July 18th. I bought some Nectar protein for my 10 day clear liquid fast before surgery. Everyone was so wonderful at Barix. So very friendly and helpful. I almost didnt' want to leave!
I am so excited about the future... I can't wait to start my next journey. these next three weeks are going to fly by.
I do have a challenge, on July 14th, I am going to a wedding. and I will be on clear liquids. I have been helping my girlfriend with all the planning and I am actually buying her the wedding cake as my wedding gift! and I won't be abel to taste it. but you know, as hard as that is going to be, I have to accept this is just the first step in several years of sacrificing that I need to do to become the person I want to be.

Support Group
Jun 14, 2007
I am trying to talk my mother into coming to the support group in chadds ford on Monday. I want her to have the same experience Gary had. Although I have to say, Gary did think it sounded like a 12 step program... hi my name is Debi and I have my surgery scheduled for July 18th...
I sent an email to my HR person for Comcast today. Advising him abotu the surgery and asking to apply for FMLA and Short Term disability. It is funny, I went out on Maternity Leave with my son on July 14th, and Comcast's FMLA is reveloving, so I had to get to July 14th 2007 before I could qualify for FMLA again. I didn't realize this at the time, but scheduling my surgery for July 18th, is perfect!
I have been sleeping my with CPAP machine, and struggling a bit to get used to it. My biggest issue is when I have to get up to go to the bathroom, I have to take the mask off, because I just can't walk anywhere without my glasses, and I can't wear my glasses and my cpap. My husband is going to try to take apart an old pair of glasses to see what he can fix for me. My vision is just go bad, I can't do anything without corrective lenses on. and when I take off the mask at night, I have trouble getting it back on.
I have a date!!!
Jun 04, 2007
Just got off the phone with Peggy, I have a Date!
July 18th!!!
I also confirmed that I changed my mind, I don't want lapband, I want Lap RYN!
My girlfriend is getting married on the 14th, and I am helping her plan her wedding, so the timing is perfect!!!!
I am so excited, I want to scream to the world...
2nd sleep study completed

Now I am just waiting to get my very own CPAP machine, so I can start logging in my hours... I am not sure if Drexel Sleep Center is going to order my CPAP or I have to get Barix to order it for me. I guess I should post the question so the experts on the board can give me advise.
Speaking of advise, at the Chadsford meeting, they told me to make sure I contact Barix as soon as I get my machine, so they can get me on the schedule...
I just found out my friend has decided to move up her wedding, from October to July... I have been helping her plan everything, sO maybe having sleep apnea isn't a bad thing after all. It would be perfect if I could plan to have my surgery the week after her wedding... I have been driving myself crazy waiting for my surgery date, and now I get to drive Jenni crazy planning her wedding in 6 weeks time!
Waiting Waiting and more Waiting...

Also just got back from the Support group Meeting in Chads Ford. My friend who is also interested in the surgery went with me. She is going to call Barix tomorrow about getting an appointment for a consultation.
I "practiced" drinking only liquids today at work and I did a pretty good job. I had 2 slimfast shakes and 2 cup a soups (380 calories of shakes and 90 calories for the soups..) and for lunch I had a small, tiny salad with just a bit of dressing. I had 8 ounces of chicken with salsa for dinner, and 4 spoon fulls of both corn and rice... My hope is if I keep eating this way, I will be in ketosis before I have to go into full liquids for the 2 week wait...
Tomorrow I am going to try to go without the salad at lunch. Maybe I will bring in some celery to chomp on.

I just faxed my psych report over to Barix clinics... Next step is a sleep study. I have my first appointment with Dr. Joanne Getsy at the Drexel Sleep Center in Manayunk on April 27th. I am so excited, I can't wait...
I am approved for Surgery, I just have to get thru the preliminary testing.
My weight has remained constant this month, haven't gained, but haven't lost yet either. I am just so excited to take the next step towards a new me...
I need to start attending a support group. I was supposed to meet Sandy last wednesday, but didn't get out of work until late, and when I stopped at home, the baby started to cry and I just couldn't leave him...
