I received a date of Feb. 4, 2005, then got word that it would be moved up to Jan. 12, 2005. Well it happend! I did it! I am feeling a little fragile right now. Like someone move around my insides. I will update later when I am feeling better.

----------

Well I was initially given a surgery date in February, then it was moved to Jan. 12. I was nervous but very excited. I thought that I was totally prepared for the surgery, but in looking back I realize you can never be fully prepared. There was a problem taking me off the breathing tube. I can remember it vaguely - I felt as though I was suffocating. I keep having flash backs of that - I feel like I am experiencing post traumatic syndrome.

----------

I had the sugery on Wed. was released on Friday and today is 6 days out. I am not in much pain, just very tired. I don't think I am eating/drinking enough. The one thing I was totally NOT prepared for was the gas pain. I had so much pain right after the surgery, not from the incisions, but from GAS. Why isn't this mentioned more? Well anyone reading this prepare for Gas - heavy on your chest. I am still on liquids and doing fine there. I will keep this updated. Talk to you soon. . .

Well I had my one week check up. The stitches were removed. No pain thank God! Lost 17 pounds. I can now go to soft foods, eggs, cottage cheese, and soft fish. I am supposed to go back to work in 2 weeks but I still don't feel emotionally or physically ready. Hopefully I will feel better next week.

---------

I am now 7 weeks out. I have lost 36 pounds. I feel like it should be much more. I went back to work and that helped a great deal. It got me up and going and more involved in the everyday living stuff. I feel like I am always constipated. I bought some Milk of Magnesia, hopefully that will help. I am just concerned that I have not lost any weight this week. Getting my liquids in daily is still a big issue for me. Water seems to just sit in my chest and makes me feel like I am having a heart attack until it goes down. Ice tea is the only thing I can really tolerate. I shouldn't be such a complainer. On the whole I am feeling much better. I am starting Curves on Monday and looking forward to that. I have gotten many compliments from family and co-workers on my appearance - makes me feel good.

Hi All!
It has been 14 weeks since surgery and I am down 55 pounds. I have determined that I am a slow loser, but I am ok with that. In the beginning there were so many issues that are no longer issues. My only concerns are that I am still not getting enough water and protein, and my hair is falling out. I will continue to work on this. I go to Curves three times a week and I feel that it has really helped. I have lost 30 inches (all over) since the surgery and my clothes are just too BIG for me. It is so hard just to get rid of them, because I would always hang on to them in the past in case I gained weight again. I now realize this will not happen and I need to just toss them. I feel good now and it is a great feeling. No chest pain, no foot pain, can walk everywhere without getting out of breath, can fit in a booth at a resturant, and just an overall feeling of good health. I wish you all success, health and happiness. Talk to you soon.

Well! I can't believe it has been 8 months out. Since my surgery I have lost 85 pounds, 97 pounds from my highest weight last year. I still have many pounds to go, but life has sure changed for me. I remember reading so many profiles - how much energy and the changes WLS had brought to so many individuals. I would think it could never be that way for me. Well guess what? It has. My feet don't hurt, my blood pressure is normal, sugar normal, I can walk anywhere and for as long as I want! I even think that my husband is having trouble keeping up with me. I just wish that everyone who decides on WLS could have it as easy as I did. No stricture, not alot of nausea, able to eat most things. Again Good Luck to all who decide on WLS. I will update again!

13 months out and I have lost over 100 pounds. I never thought that I could say that! More than pounds lately, I have lost many inches. I went from a size 32 dress to a 20, size 30 pants to 16 and 4x top to 1x. I am shopping all the time. I love it. I recently took a trip to NY with my husband and he couldn't even keep up with me. I wanted to walk every where. I need to schedule my 1 year check up with my surgeon and primary doctor, but haven't got around to it. I will let you all know how it goes.
