Colonoscopy with Large Polyps

Sep 26, 2022

Hello,

I am 66 years old and had my first colonoscopy at 50.  It was clear and I was good to go.  The next colonoscopy was at 60.  Small polyps were discovered and removed.  Doctor requested to be back in 5 years.  Just had the colonscopy and a large polyp was discovered.  Too big to be removed at time of procedure.  Will go back for removal.  I am a bit worried, obviously the C word.  I am just curious.  It has been 17 years since my gastric bypass.  During the 17 years I have been ableto keep 154 pounds off.  But with some issues - mostly pooping/constipation/hemmoroids.  I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks!

Can I feel good again?

May 21, 2008

It has been such a long time since I have updated my profile.  I don't even know if I am doing this right.  Since my surgery on January 12, 2005, I have lost 142 pounds.  I would love to loose more, but it has become difficult.

Looking back, it went ok.  I have seen so many worse situations.  I don't know if those are the ones I focus on more.  I have had my share of problems during the weight loss.

The surgery and recovery itself was so painless and problem free.  About a year and half ago, I was so tired that I could barely get through the day.  On my way home from work I would have to pull over and take a nap.  I went to the doctor and had a physical, it turned out I was anemic and had to have 2 transfusions in the hospital.  After that it persisted and then determined that it was due to my heavy periods.  Since a teenager, I have always had heavy periods with severe cramping.  It seems that with all the weight loss my body could no longer function loosing so much blood, as well as having fibroid cysts.  So I had a hysterectomy and excess skin was also removed from my stomach.  After that recuperation period, I was beginning to feel like my old self again, which honestly, I totally have forgotten what that was!  Then I began to have pain in my stomach.  When I touched my stomach, I felt a ball in the lower area.  As it turns out I had an incisional hernia.  I just had that removed about 5 weeks ago and I am praying that I have no other problems.  Overall it is not that bad, but I just want to feel good again.  Sorry for complaining!
