Paul Stanish

"I am currently 12 days post-op from RNY Gastric Bypass performed by Dr. Stanish at St. Mary's Medical Center in Hobart, IN. So far, I have had absolutely no complications and have lost 34lbs (starting with the 2 weeks of pre-op very low calorie shakes). My first impression of Dr. Stanish was one of indifference. However, as our doctor-patient relationship progressed, I realized that his interest lies in the success of his patients. Showing your dedication and commitment to the program and to long term achievement of your goals is important. This was most evident in the hospital when he would come to check on me at 7am in running attire or 7pm in scrubs; he is dedicated to success, you should be too. He never made light of the risks of surgery, and we discussed which type of surgery I should have at length. Originally I went to see him for a LapBand, but with research and discussion, we decided that a bypass would be the better option for me. The program staff won my loyalty after a rocky start (during which time they were transitioning to St. Mary's from Broadway Methodist). The nurses, Dr. Shamsi, and Dr. Stanish checked on me several times each day that I was in the hospital. And at each point, I noticed the nurses held Dr. Stanish in very high regard, with almost a reverence because of the new program he brought to their hospital. I was the second gastric bypass patient done at that hospital, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Since I was discharged, I've seen his assistant for followup, Dr. Shamsi, and the dietician. I've made follow up appointments for next month, and they are very adamant about aftercare. Patients can call or page anytime of the day or night with questions or concerns. I would recommend Dr. Stanish and the Wellness Academy program to friends or family looking to lose a significant amount of weight."
