Well.....today was the day I have been waiting for. No more pureed for this kid. Nope. And I couldn't be more thrilled. Since I was on a liquid diet for the 2 weeks prior to my surgery, I have been looking forward to the soft (ie: REAL) food stage of my recovery. And it's finally here. And can I just tell you....I just ate the BEST. SCRAMBLED EGG. EVER.
Now for all my fellow newbies out there, I must tell you that not only did I read all of the posts that said "OMG I'm so afraid this didnt work because I can eat more mushie food that other people", but I was actually one of the people that posted that. And all of the responses from the veterans out there were " Dont worry about it. When you get to the real food stage, you will definitely feel the restriction." Well when I read those responses to my post I inwardly thought that they were all full of B.S. and that my sleeve was defective. LOL However, I am posting here today to tell you that, in fact, they were NOT full of B.S....they were absolutely right. I sat down this morning to feast on the scrambled egg with cheese that I had been dreaming about for soooooo long, and lo and behold, I could only eat half of it (and that was pushing it). I couldnt believe it. After only a few little bites I began to hear the Sleeve Orchestra play their Gurgle Concerto and I knew that the meal was over.
So.......for all you worried newbies.....there is HOPE.
