08/12/2015 - 13 1/2 Year's Post-Op

Aug 11, 2015

Havent visited this page since September of 2003 when I was just going in for abdominoplasty surgery which went fine.  Now, 13 1/2 years since my gastric bypass I have maintained my entire weight loss fluctuating up and down 5-10 lbs here or there but never letting it get away from me.  I will never forget the obese days and the misery.  I only want to enjoy the still new me.  My kids are now grown and I have a 6 yr old grandchild who we help my son raise who lives with us.  I love doing all the active things that little boys like to do.  I am blessed to be able to do these things with him because I couldn't when my own children were his age and older because my weight kept me from that.  So much precious time wasted way back then.

I have had several friends including my own son undergo gastric bypass and been successful.  Some I know have not been successful.  It's not a cure all miracle.  Its a tool to be used to help you achieve your goals.  I would never recommend the lap band to anyone.  Least restrictive and many friends had very poor results.  A friend of mine had the gastric sleeve surgery which was very successful for him.  That was not an option to me back in 2002.

If my story, my journey, helps anyone make that most important personal decision to undergo gastric bypass, I will be glad it helped.  I don't know when I'll venture back on here so in the meantime, GOD BLESS and good luck on your new or anticipated weight loss journey
