26 months post-op

Jan 26, 2009

Wow, it's hard to believe that it's been over 2 years since my Ruen-Y and I feel 1000% better and am really enjoying life.  Both of my plastic surgeries were great successes and I wore a bikini for the very first time in my life when I went on a cruise with my family and friends in December.  I'm now wearing a size 9 junior jeans and am so excited to be able to shop in the junior dept instead of the women's plus!!!  My new venture is looking for a pair of black leather pants. I've always wanted a pair but didn't want to look like an elephant in them, so now I feel like I can wear them and feel good!  I'm continually amazed at the comments & looks I receive from people who haven't seen me in a long time.  WOW, how good it feels to get compliments ... that's the best feeling in the world!   I have had a wonderful support team during this entire journey and have met some really awesome people.  I hope that one day I can be an inspiration to someone who is looking to travel the "weight loss road".  I've lost a total of 192 lbs and I can NEVER remember being this small in my entire life.  One very important staple in my journey is my monthly support group meetings ... they keep me focused as well as offer great ideas for maintaining the weight loss.

Take care and I'm counting on 2009 to be another WONDERFUL year!  Toni

Past my goal!

Jul 29, 2008

It's hard to believe that I'm actually 10 lbs below my goal that I set, which means that I'm down to the size I was in the 7th grade (many, many moons ago)!  I'm 2 months post-op from my lower body lift by my wonderful plastic surgeon, Dr. John T. Louis.  He removed the excess skin from my abdominal area, my butt, and my upper thighs.  He did an AWESOME job and I can hardly wait until 8/11 when he's going to do my breast lift.  What a transformation he has done for me.  I don't have any recent pictures of myself (just me), so I'll have to have some taken so I can share them here.

It's been a  wonderful journey and a very positive experience for me.  I don't regret a minute of any of it.  I have had a great support system with my family and friends, which has meant a lot to me.  Thank you to everyone who has taken this journey by my side!!!

Until next time ...

Only 5 lbs to goal!!!

Apr 23, 2008

WOW, I can't believe it's been over a year since my last post.  Time has flown by and my weight has dropped off!  I'm down 161 lbs and in a size 14 (froma 4X)!  I only have 5 more pounds to my goal (which is the weight I was my first quarter in college many moons ago).
I have had several people re-introduce themselves to me because they don't recognize me anymore, which is quite entertaining.  I am constantly asked the question "how has it been?" and my response is always "I'd do it again tomorrow!"  I had such a fantastic surgeon, Dr. Jawad, and my journey was a very positive experience.  My closet is on it's 3rd round of clothes since my surgery.  I donated many of my clothes to a local battered women's shelter, which made me feel good about getting rid of them, especially the newer ones that I only wore for a couple of months.  I'm enjoying shopping in the "misses" section instead of the "plus womens" department, which is hard to believe because I haven't shopped in that section for many, many years!
I just had a consultation with a plastic surgeon last week and am looking forward to my "reconstructed" body.  I definitely won't miss the excess skin around my midsection and am looking forward to getting things back to the position God intended them to be!!!
If anyone is hesitating about having gastric bypass surgery, please contact me, I would love to talk with you.  It was the BEST DECISION I've ever made.  My hubby has a "new" wife after 18 years of marriage and my 11 year old daughter has a "new" and healthy mom!
Life is a journey and I'm finally back on the right road and am enjoying my journey!!!

I am 5 months post-op today and feel great!  I've lost 95 lbs. and am well on my way to my goal.  I can't believe how much better I already feel and the amount of mobility I have gained.  It's so amazing to me every time I discover something "new" that I can do again.  I'm down 5 pant sizes and 4 top sizes.  I cleaned out my closet last weekend and took 6 huge boxes of clothes to the Goodwill.  I stil have a few clothes left that fit now and a couple of things I've still yet to get into, but it won't be long and I'll have to completely clean out everything from my closet.  I can't wait!

I am off all of my diabetes meds now.  My GP put me back on one of them a couple of months ago, but I'm now off of it too.  I had blood work done today and hopefully I will be able to stay off all of those meds.  I hope to eventually go off of the cholesterol meds, but the doc says my cholesterol could be heredity and not weight-related.  Maybe one day!  I'm just thrilled to be taking vitamins instead of diabetic medication.
