So many questions and time is flying by!
Sep 02, 2009
A week has already passed (as of tomorrow) since I was given my surgery date but it seems like just yesterday I spoke with the nurse. My preop class is scheduled for next week, day after labor day, and I will get my binder to live by with all the info that I need to succeed. My friends and family are asking so many questions that I really dont have the answers to right now, so I hope my class will give me a better understanding of what lies ahead. I have a good idea about what will happen during the hospital stay and when I go home but I'm wondering about ....the preop testing... do I have to fast.. what time do I have to be there... can my family be with me right after the surgery.. etc...And now we change gears....I went out and bought some things that I thought I may need for after the surgery. I've been watching alot of vlogs on You Tube and found that some things are standard necessities that i just had to have. I found the cutest cocktail spoons and forks at World Market over the weekend. They were $2 a piece and I bought 4 of each. I dont want to use a baby spoon but I do want to make sure I take the appropriate sized bites. I also found small condiment bowls at Walmart that hold about 2 oz of food as well as small sectioned plates.
I have seen mixed reviews on the necessity to have a food scale. I intend to follow my portion restrictions to a tee to ensure that I dont get sick... so the question is .... to weigh or not to weigh... what is the answer???? Hopefully everything will be clearer after next week and I will be ready to go!
Many blessings to all of us who have taken this step to be healthier, happier and ready to live!
Jessica
