I just finished seeing Dr. Webb this morning and then I went to the hospital to do my preregistration and preop testing. The anesthesiologist said my EKG looked like I had had a heart attack awhile back.  He didn't think it would be a problem since I did not have symptoms now.  Ugh! I thought it would be my lungs and my COPD that would be the issue. 

I am nervous about the surgery but I met with a nurse at the hospital who had the bypass done in 2004 and she was a 5X and is now a size 8.  She looked fabulous and showed me a lot of pictures--before and after.  It is stunning.  I just have no concept that this could someday be me. 

I had also gained some weight when I quit smoking in June and lo and behold today when I got on the scale I had lost it all and a few pounds more!  Now I am at 326...that's the lowest I have been in 2 years!  I have to admit it---I am feeling better and can get into a couple dresses I couldn't get in before.  I actually didn't have any problems walking all over the hospital today.  It was a big deal to me---usually I am huffing and puffing and sweating.

Today I had the last of my presurgery tests---a gall bladder scan and h. pylori blood test.  Hopefully if all is okay I will have my surgery on Monday July 28th!  I am mentally ready for all of this to happen.

Ugh!  What is it they say...check, recheck and then check AGAIN!  I began this whole process asking for a lap band and then the more I learned about the procedures I decided to go with the gastric bypass.  I felt it would be best since I am a diabetic.  I notified my center months ago of my change and sat there while the girl changed it in the computer.  

I was called last week by the surgeon's office and given my date to see the surgeon and to do my preop stuff and was given a surgery date.  I went to their office yesterday to double check and lo and behold....they have me scheduled for a lapband!  Now I have to change and postpone everything.  Ugh!  I am glad I checked though...it would have been horrible to have the wrong procedure although I am sure we would have caught it at the surgeon's presurgery physical.

I have my surgery date!  I am having a RNY on Friday July 18----one day after my husband's birthday.  I thought I was prepared but when I got the call I got very anxious.  I kept thinking...am I doing the right thing...what if something bad happens.  I am getting better as the days tick by.
