Been Awhile ;)

Jul 21, 2007

So yeah, it's been awhile since I updated. Life has been super hectic here, so it's cut drastically into my posting time. :)

Things are going great. I'm still having some superficial wound healing issues with two of my incisions, but that's it. And THAT I can deal with. It'll all heal over in time.

So yeah, this is just a quick update to say I'm still alive. I'll try and post something of more substance soon!

One Month Out!

Jul 05, 2007

So I had my official one month out appointment with my nutritionist and my surgeon's assistant the other day. I'm down 48 pounds since my two week out surgery and...34 (I think) pounds down since. In a month?!?! That's amazing! I love it! And I can already wear PJ pants in an 18/20, that's crazy! I'm almost into the same on top, but the "girls" aren't quite shrinking as fast as I'd like. Dangit! Ha ha.

I'm feeling great, I move to soft foods on the 12th of this month and I'm leaving tomorrow to go back to my apartment to volunteer for a music festival I worked at last summer. Should be fun. I'm a little worried about the whole eating issue while I'm there, but I'm sure I can work something out. Not much else is new.....the boy is even more fabulous than ever. I'm completely head over heels for this guy and - the best part is - he feels the same way in return. It's quickly teaching me how to get over myself, mainly how insecure I've always been. He has TONS of friends that are chicks and most of them want more than just friendship and are pretty open about it, so that's taking some getting used to. But I trust him (which is a huge deal) so we'll see where this goes.

That's about all I've got for now. Off to drink a protein bullet!

First Baby Wow

Jun 15, 2007

I ran out to the mall today to exchange the icky soy protein I got at Vitamin World for some unflavored whey stuff and some miscellaneous goodies (protein bullets, Isopure, etc...). I stopped off to see my sister at work and then decided to swing by our Lane Bryant. It's closing on the 24th so everything is 50% off. I found a shift that I *loved* that the "girls" wouldn't fit in before and this time it was too big! I bought it anyway because it was cheap and ties in the back, so I can gather material. But I also bought a tank in a size smaller than I've been wearing since high school! And it fits! And right now I'm wearing PJs a size smaller than usual. Woo! I love this!

1 Week Check Up - Part 2

Jun 14, 2007

So I went back for my second 'One Week Check-Up' so that my surgeon's P.A. could check my drain site where I had the minor infection. I've been on anti-biotics since last Thursday and it cleared everything up, so I just have to finish what's left in the bottle and then I'm all good. I was worried about one of my incisions, but she said it looks fine, so that was a load off. They weighed me again and I was down another thirteen pounds, which makes THIRTY-SIX since my pre-op appointment! Holy crap! (That also makes 22.3 lbs gone since surgery alone!) WOO! Makes all the hard work worth it.

Today I move onto my pureeds, so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully everything will sit okay in the pouch!

One Week Check Up

Jun 08, 2007

So I went today for my one week check-up and to get my drain removed (finally!) with my surgeon's assistant. I showed her my drain, which got a bit infected I noticed last night, but she still pulled it. They put me on an anti-biotic for a week to kill whatever little infection there was and patched me up. Next Thursday I get to start my pureed foods and they say that I'm right on track. Yay!

I got weighed when I got there, of course - how weird is it that I no longer hate this part? I actually look forward to hopping on the scale. Though they made me realize that our scale here isn't that accurate. Woops. Have to fix that. I'm down 23 lbs from post-op! 13.7 on the liquid diet and the rest since surgery. Yay!

I got my walking in running errands with mom today and I feel really good.

Pain in my SIDE!

Jun 06, 2007

Things have been going just smashingly since surgery. I've been doing my walking and, though it has been difficult, I've been getting in at least 50 grams of protein everyday. Plus, I've been getting in all my medications and vitamins, so that makes me feel good. Since I'm still on liquids, I think that I'm doing alright on my water intake. I should really start monitoring it more closely. When I go onto puree food and won't get both liquids and nutrients from the same source, I plan to keep a strict tally.

My drain is still the biggest pain EVER. It was clogged all yesterday and since the day before has been leaking all over my side. The drain itself has irritated the skin around the exit area and I just want it gone. I called my surgeon's PA to talk to her about it and she said that it's normal to leak, especially if the drain is clogged. To try and 'milk the line' to clear the clog, but not to worry about it unless I start showing signs of infection. She said it was better to get all that icky liquid out somehow and it comes out Friday anyway. Mom and I fashioned our own 'drain sponges' to absorb the excess liquid and that seems to work well beneath my binder. At night, I take it off to let the incisions breath and simply rig a bandage against my side as I sleep. Still....can't wait for Friday.

I'm so tired of liquids - mainly from the two week pre-surgery diet - and I can't wait for puree/soft foods! I don't even LIKE cottage cheese and never in my life have I wanted some so badly. Refried beans sound like heaven and don't get me started on the ricotta cheese/spaghetti sauce deal people were discussing on the board the other day. Yummy.

Well, speaking of walking I need to get up and do that. So I'm off to do my laps around the basement until it cools off and mom and I walk the dog outside later. I'm pretty sore today for some reason, so it's a calm day for me.

P.S. I'm editing to add that Designer Whey Strawberry protein powder with skim milk and 1 packet of Splenda is saving my life, protein wise! I hated strawberry milk before surgery, but this tastes JUST like strawberry Nesquick and is SO YUMMY.

Hooooome!

Jun 04, 2007

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I'm home and safe and sound. My drain is quite the annoyance, but it comes out from Friday so yay!

I'll be sure to post more soon, but the moms and I are going on a walk so it'll have to wait!

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Waiting...

May 30, 2007

It's been a busy week here! My sister graduated high school last night and I still can't believe it. It was also really weird to see just how many people she graduated with whose older siblings I graduated with. In the section we sat in alone, there were six of us. It's so weird. Was nice to see people from high school, though.

All of my lovely little KNR buddies from school have been leaving messages for me on Facebook, so those are nice little surprises to see.

Ok, ok, I'm off to take care of some more business before I go camp out in the hospital. Just waiting on them to call with my time! :)

SOOOO tired....

May 27, 2007

So I just got home from dog-sitting with Christine (my roommate) at her old boss' apartment. We had some friends over last night and ended up staying up till 7am watching horror movies and playing games. It was a ton of fun.

The pre-surgery diet is starting to get old in it's repetitiveness so thank goodness I only have a few more days. I'm not sure how much more I could take! lol.

I'm just doing this quick update before I head to catch up on sleep, but I also wanted to add that either the L.A. Weight Loss scale was wrong or I read it wrong because my pre-ops were moved up to Friday and the nurse weighed me there several times. I'm not down SIX pounds, I'm down THIRTEEN point SEVEN. Hell yes! I'll take that.

Alright, that's all I have for now....off to fall asleep to Prison Break on DVD....

Sneaky, Sneaky!

May 23, 2007

Soooo....Christine played look out and I snuck on the scale before her L.A. Weight Loss meeting today and I'm down six pounds since the 17th! It's not much, but I'll take it! Woooo!!!!!

Oh yeah...still on the diet. lol. My pre-op appointments are all schedule for Tuesday the 29th from about 12:30 - 2 or so. I have to meet with the insurance coordinator, get a physical, etc.... That should be thrilling. Surgery is coming up so fast! It doesn't seem real! I can't wait!
