"The hospital is small. On all pre-surgical visits I was very impressed with the place, I thought the staff was great, friendly and attentive, but, post surgery I was surprised at how uncaring the nursing staff seemed to be. The contrast was stunning. Before surgery they gave you a booklet about how great their care is, I sat down and met with a couple of nurses - required by the doctor - and they told me how wonderful everything was and gave me a chart of what to expect each day. None of that was actually carried out, and the nurses pretty much ignored me when I asked them to do some of the things on the list. One of them actually laughed and said we NEVER do that - who's got the time? (it was checking in on the patient at specific intervals during the day).
Thank goodness my husband was there to help me and to get a nurse to come in to the room when they didn't respond to the buzzer. Make sure you have an advocate there with you!"
"Wow! My first impression of Dr. Artuso was how nice and friendly he is. He took plenty of time to explain the various procedures and the whole process for me and then answered all of my questions. His office staff - Lisa and Laurie are terrific. I feel very comfortable with the whole team, at least those I have met so far. I have never felt so good around medical staff. They all made feel at ease and every one of them has made me feel like I was their only patient.
Dr. Artuso and his team have explained each step from the pre-op procedures to post op. I feel fully informed on what to expect. I feel like I can ask any one of the team members any questions that I might think of and they will either answer or find the answer for me.
I have done some of the pre-op stuff so far and next week I go in for all of the rest and the week after is surgery. I feel confident that I am in excellent hands and I will report on the experience when I'm done."
