I am a 34 year old stay at home mom of 2 children. I left my job in 2004 to school my children at home. My son as ADHD and does better in the home enviroment.

My family and I volunteer at a ranch for unwanted/abused horses. The horses have been a sort of therapy to both my daughter and I. They are loving creatures and I would encourage anyone to become involved with them in some way! We have 2 horses of our own now...LOL...I could not help myself! We also have 5 dogs (English Mastiff, English Bulldog,2 Basset Hounds and a Lab),4 birds (Parrot,Blue Fronted Amazon,Umbrella Cockatoo and a Blue Crown Conure) and 2 domestic short hair cats! My friends call me Mrs. Dolittle...LOL!

I weigh 246.2 LB. and I am 5' 1" . I have always felt like the "fat" girl. Though I don't really think I was in highschool. I was a size 12 when everyone else was a 2. I had my daughter at 18 and I think I have been gaining weight ever since. Since 2000 I have developed High Blood Pressure, Polycystic Ovarian Disease (though I think I have had this most of my life it was not dxed until then),High Chol.,Diabetes and now my kidneys are starting to fail due to my weight. So, health reasons are my main point in having this surgery. Although, cosmetic reasons are an awesome benefit!!:) The other reason I am choosing to have this sugery is because I want to live again! I am tired of not wanting to leave my house or being afraid to meet new people for fear of what they will say when I am not around. I was always a very out going person but the last few years have been very tough. No one can understand that if they have not been there!

I started the process to have Lap RNY about 2 years ago after researching it for several years. I got scared and frustrated with my insurance at the time so I stopped trying to get approved. Well, last year we moved and our insurance changed but still I was leary to try again. I called Blue Cross Blue Shield about 3 weeks ago and they said they covered it with no supervised diet restrictions or anything. I just had to have a BMI of 35 or above with co-morbities. So, I called Dr. Henderson and made an appoint for a re-eval, since it had been a year and a half since I had seen him. I had already had the psych. eval.,saw the nut. and been to support group meetings last year. I saw Dr. Henderson and Lauren the Nut. on September 20th. Their office is 3 hours from my home. By the time I walked back through my front door, they had called to tell me I was approved! What a blessing!! I am now scheduled for surgery on October 22, 2007.
