It's hard to imagine that I am finally at this point. I just received approval to meet with my surgeon, Dr. Suh. I am beyond thrilled. It's been a long journey to get to this point, but I am here.
Since the Fall of 2005 I have been playing the HMO games trying to get approval for the surgeon that I trusted and wanted, Dr. Suh. In May 2006 I received approval to see a surgeon that didn't have a very good track record and was out of my area. Rather than gamble I chose to switch my medical group and get the surgeon I wanted.
In June 2006 I met with my new primary doctor who refered me that day to get authorization to meet with Dr. Suh. Unfortunatly, the medical group felt differently. They wanted me to attend 6 months of nutritional classes and a psych, endocrinology, pulomonology, and cardiology clearance.
Now, March 2006 I have completed everything and have now obtained authorization to meet with Dr. Suh. I have an appointment April 5th. If all goes well that day he will schedule me for a surgery date and send iin request for authorization to my insurance.
