To dream anything that you want to dream, that is the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do, that is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself, to test your limits, that is the courage to succeed. Bernard Edmonds

HELLO ERIC... I HAD SURGERY WITH DR. SCHAUER ON AUGUST 19, 2002. I FIRST STARTED INQUIRING ABOUT IT BACK IN JUNE OF 2001. IT IS A LONG AND EMOTIONAL JOURNEY. AS OF TODAY, OCTOBER 17, 2002 I HAVE LOST A TOTAL OF 84 POUNDS. IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! YOU ARE MAKING A VERY GOOD DECISION AND DR. SCHAUER AND HIS STAFF WILL HELP YOU WITH EVERYTHING! I WISH YOU THE BEST AND CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING THE DECISION THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER. IF YOU'D ASK ME IF I'D GO THROUGH THE PROCESS AGAIN....MY ANSWER, WITHOUT HESITATION WOULD BE... ***** IN A HEARTBEAT*****

Eric, Hi there. Yes, I think it is really common for you to start noticing your co-morbidities after being on the site. I think we get so used to them, we don't recognize that they are serious impediments to our quality of life. Best of luck on your journey!

ERIC ~~ I don't think you're becoming a baby because you are starting to recognize the effects of morbidity has had on your body (and mind). You are simply facing reality. So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.

Hi Eric, Nice to see you stop lurking in the dark corners and join the "talk". Or ongoing babble, whichever fits. Ah yes, the long wait! It IS frustrating and I have come up with a plan...keep researching and learning because knowledge is power...start walking, even if it's around the block twice a day...give up the one thing in the food department that you eat the most of, that keeps you from loosing (peanut butter)...start doing something you love to do once a day (woodworking or swimming target practice, whatever)...keep reading the board and encourage others on the board...go visit friends you haven't seen in a while....volunteer to help in an organization...keep busy. It is helping me alot and I don't have time to get depressed or worry about the waiting or the surgery. I know the waiting is torture but you can do it! My best to you Eric and keep us informed on the board! Big Hug! Carol Percel
