My "Do Over" Life Begins

Jan 29, 2011

July 19, 2010-Attended my upteenth seminar to try this again.  I finally work for a company who's insurance covers WLS. Unfortunately, after September 1st, I will have a $5000 deductible.  I guess that's a small price to pay when you really think about it.  Over the years, I've paid twice that in prescriptions, diet programs, dr's visits, surgeries.
I've chosen to go with BMI of Texas here in San Antonio.  The doctor that I chose as my surgeon conducted the seminar.  Not only is he cute , but he is very highly qualified.  He gets a big plus for both of those.

August 5, 2010-Consult with the surgeon.  I really like Dr. Seger.  He is very easy to talk to, and is a great listener.  He looked over my background information, and put me on the spot right away.  I said that I wanted the RNY, but mainly because I knew my insurance covered both the RNY and the lapband.  When he asked why I didn't want the lapband, I told him that I didn't like what I was reading about all the revisions that are having to be done.  And also, with the amount of weight that I need to lose, about 150lbs, I felt the RNY was the better choice for me.  He agreed, and then asked why I didn't want the sleeve.  I told him my insurance didn't cover it.  But, if they did by the time I was to have surgery, that would be my choice.  He said they would definitely check into that for me.  He really thought the sleeve would be my best bet.

September 13, 2010-Psych eval.  Not bad.  Met with a psychologist who was very nice.  We talked about my background, family, work, and eating habits.  Also spent about an hour and a half doing the MMPI.  Some of those questions made me chuckle out loud.  I couple of other people taking it at the same time, did the same thing...lol.
