Okay so the wonderful OH boards gave me some ideas to help with the weird taste of the protein shake. One of them was to add a cap-full of vanilla extract to it. I was surprised, but it actually worked. I now feel like I can enjoy the shakes and not practically gag when drinking them.
I have added a chicken breast or some tuna to my diet in the evening though. I was keeping track of what I was taking in during the day and it only amounted to 300-400 calories per day, mainly from the protein shakes. I need food! So, I figure, if I eat a protein in the evening my calorie intake is still under 1000 and I get some real food. Absolutely no carbs! I visit my PCP in a couple of weeks so I will see how much I have lost then. If not much then I will tweak the diet and take out my evening protein and substitute another shake for it. We will see.

Started the liquid protein today. This is hard. It has a weird taste to it and I am having a hard time getting it down. Plus the no real food is killing me. Felt like I could just lay down and not move for days. Absolutely no energy.

I had my first visit with Dr. Warnock today. He wants me to lose 40 pounds before surgery. He put me on this high protein liquid diet and I have to go back in a month. The diet will start on Monday...I am eating this weekend...for the last time!
