Emotional Eating! 101
Dec 07, 2009
When you’re eating for phyiscal reasons, you are usually mindful of what you’re doing. If you catch yourself eating, “just because”, then its likely you’re eating for emotional reasons..
2. I crave specific foods-generally not carrot sticks or steamed broccoli.Cravings for specific foods usually unhealthy foods are signs of emotional eating. Often people like the rush they get from satisfying their cravings. The rush is fulfilling emotional hunger.
3. My hunger feels urgent- I need a particular food right away and I am willing to walk out of my way, or get in your car late at night, or raid my kids Halloween candy to get it. Physical hunger, unless you haven’t eaten for a long time, is usually pretty patient. It will wait for food. Emotional hunger demands to be satisfied immediately.
4. My hunger is often paired with an upsetting emotion- if I backtrack a few hours or a few days I’ll usually find an upsetting event and feeling that triggered the urge. Hunger thats comnnected to an upsetting emotion or situation is definately emotional hunger. Physical hunger is not typically triggered by emotions.
5. My eating habits involve unconscious eating-all of a sudden I’m eating ice cream and I find the whole contianer is gone.
6. I don’t stop eating in response to being full- I keep wanting more of the taste of the food. Physical hunger doesn’t need to be stuffed in order to be satisfied. Emotional hunger on the other hand often demands more and more food to feel satisfied.
7. My hunger isn’t located in he belly- I crave the taste of a certain food in my mouth or I can’t stop thinking of a certan food. Feeling hungry in this way is usually a sign of emotional hunger or binging. Physical hunger is happy to get what it can, while emotional hunger usually focuses on specific tastes and textures.
8. After I satisfy my hunger, I am often filled with a sense of regret or guilt. Feeding your body what it needs is not something to feel guilty about. If you feel guilty after you eat, it’s likely because part of you knows you’re not eating just to satisfy physical hunger.

Update 4 months have passed!
Oct 20, 2009
DH has lost 35.6lbs and is only 19lbs away from his goal of 175! I'm almost a third of the way to mine! Yipee!
I still have restriction but thankfully I can still eat just about anything I want. I have to be careful on dry chicken, beef! Bread, pasta and rice are all still ok! I'm set to have fill #4 on 10/27! I'm hoping I can get just a small tweak. My greatest fear is being to tight! I had rather not have as much restriction and do some of the work myself than have to suffer with being to tight!
Blessings!
Sweet Spot !

I will see tonight how the weight loss is progressing! I weigh-in at WW tonight @ 5:30pm! Hoping to see a minus sign in front of those pounds.
O Happy Day!
Third Fill
Sep 09, 2009
I asked Sandy about my port seeming to have moved...She said it was possible for it to move around as I lost fat layers and as I toned muscles. When she went to numb me, she commented on how flat my port was laying now. She said I had definately lost a fat layer! She didn't have to push & prod this time, one stick and it was over! 1.5cc was added putting me at 8cc in my 11 cc band! Trevor said " she filled your butt up didn't she?" Next appointment not for 6 weeks! Can't wait to get thru the liquid stage and mushy stage, so I can try out my new fill level!
Big loss! Yipeee!

All my exercising finally paid off... I lost 6 pounds last night at my WW meeting! I was so freaking happy! After last weeks gain and being depressed that the scales were moving in the wrong direction. I have now lost a total of 41 pounds! I couldn't be happier. DH made his 25 pounds lost mark, too! Plus he had lost 4 pounds prior of starting WW, so his total id actually 29 pounds gone! That is 70......70 pounds gone between the two of us! That deserves a happy dance !
Back to the Basics!
Aug 26, 2009
I have been struggling here lately with needing a fill & being hungry! I have not been making the best food choices and I have been eating way too much!!! I have to go back to the basics! Period! No questions asked! There are goals I'm trying to reach and I can't reach those with the behavior I'm showing! Plain & Simple! I have to get those band rules back out, dust them off, read them, re-read them and re-read them again. I must fight the hunger with what ever means I can find that follow in line with the rules. Why is this so hard. When the surgeon told me I had to do something prior to being banded ....I just did it! Why am I resisting now! I know what I'm going to have to do to reach these goals.
We all must do the same thing....get back to the basics! They worked for us when we started .... they will work for us again! I personally would like to invite everyone to get back to the basics with me. We can all use this...beginners...in the journey.....close to goal....and at Goal! We all need to follow the rules and live a happy life while taking care of our precious tool!
Blessings,
Tonya

Aug 17, 2009
I did my exercise angain this morning! This starts the third week of exercise. Yipee! I'm so happy I finally got off the couch(or recliner in my case) and got after the exercise. I have felt so much better.
Tonight is another weight watchers weigh-in and I think I will be down some. Hoping for 3 pounds but I'll take what I can get! Poor Jeff has ben struggling with losing since he has been unable to exercise due to having foot surgery. He should be clear to start back next Monday!
We have 13 more weigh-ins before our cruise. I would love to be down to somewhere in the 250 range. I have been trying to find another swimsuit but have had no luck! I ordered two from FashionBug but they looked stupid when I put them on! So they are going back for someone else to enjoy!
Exercise Goal - Yipee!
