My surgeon consult has just moved up from Jun 18 to MONDAY. WOO HOO!! I am so excited.
the "weighting" game

I am really just begining my journey. I have been lurking on this sight for 9 months. I had talked to my dr back then and she wanted me to try medication for 3 months. During this time, my dr moved (we are retired miliatry), so I changed drs for the xx time and my husband said he didn't like the idea. At that point, I backed off the surgery. I knew we would revisit it. I kept trying to lose weight. Last month, he called me at work and told me that there was a seminar and that I should go. Without asking any questions, I called a friend and off we went.
About a week later, I asked him about what had changed his mind. He told me about two folks he knew at work that had the surgery and about conversations he had with both of them. It made the difference to him and now he supports it 100%. I now have a referral from my PCM and am waiting to see the surgeon. My appointment isn't until June 18th but I asked them to call if something opens sooner.
I am excited about the possibility but nervous about how it is all going to work. Right now, I am just trying to figure out how I will arrange everything. While I am not a private person, I do not think I am going to tell me work before hand. I am going to request 2 weeks PTO and hope for the best! I know they will eventually figure it out but I don't think that I have to tell them now. I will however share with everyone else. OK-everyone but my mother in law!
