Ki H. Oh

"Dr. Oh is a very quiet gentleman. He will answer any questions you have, but is not particularly forthcoming with detailed information. Not that he doesn't tell you what is going on, but the details get left out. The office staff was primarily composed of women who had weight-loss surgery themselves. There were photos of them before and after decorating the office and seeing how great they looked in person really was encouraging. What I liked least about the office part of the surgery was that I spent such a small amount of time talking to any of them that I felt like they wouldn't recognize me if they saw me outside of the office. I realize that they have a lot of people come through there, but a little more time and attention in the office would have been appreciated. Dr. Oh was very careful to make sure I understood what I needed to do before, during and after surgery to help the process along. He even went so far as to have me write down instructions in my own handwriting (theoretically so I could read it, however, I can't read my own handwriting). I don't know if there is a structured aftercare program as I don't live anywhere near where my surgery was performed. They did encourage me to find a support group in my own area and to stay in contact with the office via email or phone calls, though. Dr. Oh and I did discuss the risks of surgery in detail. I felt good about that part. I would recommend Dr. Oh to anyone who doesn't need a warm, fuzzy doctor. He is good, but clinical. Surgical competence is more important to me than a warm bedside manner. My doctors are not my buddies and I don't want them to be, but I know everyone doesn't feel that way. "
