Going Well

Mar 08, 2007

All is well!  I feel good and am doing well in my protein and water intake.  I did have my first 'over filling' the pouch!  I was drinking some cream of chicken soup and I had too much too fast and it was too hot.  I felt so bad; I  know I will never do that again.  I have never had 'dumping' and don't plan to.  I really am watching my sugar intake.  I am not much of a 'candy/sweet' eater in the first place so I know I will be OK with that.  I found that the colder the liqud the better I feel and the easier it is to drink without feeling blouded.  My daughter Mercedes explained it is perhaps because heat expands and cold doesn't so in my small stomach it makes a difference.  I need my naps still but haven't  been taking them.  I sleep real good at night.  I  am going to start a more extensive exercise program today instead of just walking the treadmill.  I walk about 15 minutes a day and go .40 of a mile.  I can do more!  Hasta....

Isopure a Life Saver

Mar 02, 2007

I am feeling so good!  Down 32 lbs. since my WLS journey began.  I found the saviour of all protein products.  I am worth it so I have purchased my month supply at my GNC and with my discount card!  I slept in my own bed 2 days ago and now am sleeping in it every night.  I can't wait to get rid of my CPAP!  Got my nails done (myself) and I got a nice hair cut.  Going to color it and then I'll be feeling and looking better.  I hope my family likes my 'attitude'.  I am praying for all those who are thinking about WLS and pray it works for them like it has for me....

Better Day Today

Feb 26, 2007

Today is a better day on my WLS journey.  I realized I needed to slow down and really think about "eating", getting my day started earlier is very important and then I start my water and get my protein in earlier.  I feel much better today and I had fiber in the morning and feel a bit better with that.  Each day I see the scale going down and that makes me feel better about this whole thing.  I seem to be colder than I use to feel.  Losing fat!  I actually sleep with socks which before was such an uncomfortable feeling.  I am still more comfortable on the couch.  I seem to feel more back support.  I am will try my bed again soon.  Thank God I found Isopure drinks.  They are so great and the powder desolves so well that you can't feel any grit  or slime.  I wish they had a no flavor one and I would be the happiest on earth!  I hope my family is happy to.  They have all been so encouraging and my husband is happy and that  makes me keep on....

Doing Well

Feb 24, 2007

I am 22 day posts-op and all is well.  Since my surgery I have lost 11 lbs. forever and since my first consultation with Dr. L.udwig I have forever lost 27 lbs!  I have already discarded about 3 more blouses that just 'hung' on me!  My belly is so big and I look forward to excercising what I can off.  I hate to say it but I am pretty sure I will have to have surgery to remove all of the excess  belly skin.  I look forward to my new boobies though!  I slept in my bed pretty good.  Hubby was careful not to use me as a pillow, the pressure on my stomach or side is very uncomfortable.  Today I am real sore and am having 'gas' pains.  I took some fiber today and I hope that helps.  I found Isopropure drinks with 40 grams of protein and I like the taste.  A bit pricey but I can get them 50% off at GNC the first week of every month!  Windy, stormy,  rainy day and I am going to just sit.  I need to walk, walk, walk, the treadmill.

Still On the Right Path!

Feb 21, 2007

I had my 2-week follow-up with Dr. Ludwig and I can't believe I was so happy to see him.  I felt like a kid who had received an A on an exam and I dare say that I was kinda proud of myself.  I weighed in at 250 lbs. even.  In the morning at home I weighed 249 lbs. however, I figured I had already drank 20 oz. of water prior to my doctor visit so it was OK.  So, that means in 18 days I lost 7 bls.  Dr. Ludwig said everything sounded and looked great for me BUT I would do best if I excercised more often.  I walked on the treadmill for 12 minutes...  I am still not fired up about the protein but I have discovered 2 new recipes.  I didn't feel too much like any 'real food' yesterday so I stuck to all liquid protein.  I haven't been too comfortable in my bed so I slept on the couch again.  I have a busy day and I can't wait to try on an 'old' blouse to see how it fits.  I feel good!

On The Right Path

Feb 15, 2007

Well, today is the 13 day of my WLS journey.  I must admit that it hasn't been easy.  As for my physical recovery, well, from what I had read from other OH budies, I believe I have been very fortunate.  Discomfort yes, however I no longer am taking pain or spasm meds and I sleep well.  I am more comfortable sleeping in my recliner because when I lay on my back, it is very uncomfortable so it is OK that I have my recliner to sleep in.  I am still using my CPAP (Sleep Apnea) because I feel more comfortable using it.  I did sleep in the hospital quite well without it and I was told that I did not snore and my breathing was normal.  I want to get under 200 lbs. before I try sleeping without it.  I have been struggling with the consumption of my protein drinks.  I am really nausceated even by the thought of having to drink one more drink.  I have chocolate, strawberry, vanilla powder and banana creme, cookies and cream premade drinks.  Today, I added nonfat dry milk powder and it did help with the consistancy of the drinks.  I am averaging about 27 to 35 grams of protein per drink, so this helps with only having to drink 2 shakes a day.  I get my water in just fine.  I can also get my vitamins in well.  I am introducing some foods on my approved foods from my doctor's office and have tolerated them well.  I haven't truly been too good about walking.  I do at least 10-12 minutes on the treadmill which is about 1/4 mile.  I walked a bit, to the mailbox and then to the end of the block and back home.  My small laparascopic 'holes' are healing well also.  I do still have a large bruise on my left side where I am told the Dr. did most of the 'work'.  I am trying to get busy doing things here and there so I don't get down about the 'diet'.  I pray a lot also.  Well, so I go back for my first follow-up on Tuesday.  Looking forward to drive again and moving on.....

10 Days Post-Op / Feeling Good

Feb 12, 2007

Monday and 10-days post-op!  I weighed myself today and I wasn't too happy since I've only lost 4 lbs. since my surgery?  I've read some post where people have lost up to 20 lbs. their first week!  I am getting all of my protein and water in OK.  I've also read that a lot of people have challenges their first week or even that their doctor told them not to worry about getting their protein/water in their first week?  I guess we are all a bit different.  I won't weigh again until I go for my 2-week follow-up on 2/20.  This is my second day eating 1/2 oz. of chicken with about 1/2 cup of chicken broth and 1tbs. of applesauce for lunch.  Doing well, feeling well.  A bit sore but I move around fine.  I need to get on my treadmill more often.  A bit tired but I always took a nap in the late afternoon anyway.  Looking forward to tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that!  Thank God for my family!!!!!

5 Days Post-Op

Feb 07, 2007

I can't believe it has been five days!  I feeling great.  I wasn't sure what I would feel or how after reading other WLS friends description of their post-op pain, etc.  If I hadn't had the pre-surgery constipation the whole expereince would have been perfect; as perfect as WLS could be.  I have so much to share but I am a bit tired.  Staying active and having a fairley smooth transition of drinking my water and protein and vitamins.  I am very thankful for all of the prayers and friends who wished me well.  I will write more later....

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I Love Ya Tomorrow

Feb 01, 2007

Today, is the last Thursday of being overweight!  I believe I am organized at home, my bills are paid.  Children know the schedule for everyone.  I pray I have no 'challenges' with any thing else...
Going to the movies to watch The Pursuit of Happiness with my little one Marina since we are the only two who haven't seen it yet.  I wanted to 'get out' of the house for a bit.  I am ready.  I pray all is well and I pray for my surgeon Dr. D. Ludwig.  I like him.  Packing also, not hungry today but I know I better get my protein and water in.
Hasta

Just Around the Corner

Jan 31, 2007

Wow, I am having WLS in less than two days!  I am so ready.  My bills are paid, my refrigerator is full of healthy food for my children and my personal small refrigerator is also full of food for me!  I made our family February calendar so no one forgets who is where and why.  I just pray that Marina is not forgotten somewhere.  Thank God I have two children who drive and have cars so that is a blessing.  Alexis is designated chef since Mercedes will be working in the evenings.  Marina is also a great help in the kitchen.  Salvador, well, he will be handling other house chores.  We don't let him cook, he is however getting the hang of the microwave.  Clothes are washed, all is well in our household!  I really appreciate all of the blessings and great wishes and support from everyone on OH.  I am going to '"pack" tomorrow morning so I can't pick up what I may be missing; which I am pretty sure will be nothing.  I am also excited because a dear friend of my signed me up to be a Tupperware Consultant.  Something fun and positive to do as little or often as I please and make a bit of fun money!  I will be the best dressed dealter in RB!!!!  Tired, so I will end for now.  My weight today was 257.8 lbs.  I hope I will be at 255 lbs. on the day of surgery.  Less to loose!
