Hi Everyone!Great to be here and ready for the Journey!
First of all let me introduce myself and tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Nancy, I am 42 years young, married 18 years to my "KING"…LOL..long story!*eyeroll*, I have a beautiful 13-year-old daughter Samantha and the cutest little Pug dog "Cupcake".
I am starting my journey 296 pounds.*OUCH*
I have had a weight problem all my life, like most I have tried everything to get the weight off and I usually will loose a few and then gain it back with a few extra tag along and boy have they all added up!!
I had 2 serious back surgeries the last one being in July of 2003,I had a spinal fusion, I had to wear a hard plastic brace from my neck to the lower lumbar spine (it was like being packed in a tuna can!..lol) for 5 months every waking hour out of bed. That really did a number on my weight not being able to move for 5 months and no exercise except the little P.T. I had.
It was a very long and extremely painful recovery and I am still in a mass amount of back pain!! My Neurosurgeon and PCP both said a lot has to do with my weight,although I have permanent nerve damage,both physicians say the pain will be much less if I lost weight.
I had looked into WLS last year but my insurance would hear nothing of it at all, well, pooh to them! I dumped there insurance and went elsewhere (ha! serves them right! there loss! my new insurance Geisinger health plan does cover it!
I am almost certain (fingers crossed) I will be approved I meet more than all the criteria and more and my Dr. feels I will no problem.
I have started the ball rolling and have a appointment with Shannon Mcsheah and Dr.Still April 28th.
I know already that I will have to go through a 6 month wait with all the tests and meetings with the dieticians and such.
It seems like such a long way off but I am just relieved to know that every day is a step closer to a healthier and happy new "ME".
