9 Weeks out

Dec 04, 2007

Wow. 2 months have really flown by. I have lost 40lbs. The day before Thanksgiving, I have an appointment with my Endocrinologis. My A1C level was 5.9. This is great and in the normal range for a non-diabetic. I have not taken any diabetes medications since the first week of surgery. I am also off of the blood pressure meds, so I have already accomplished 2 of my goals. I have learned that I can eat just about anything and it is hard at times. I do dump on sugars and try not to have them. I just celebrated my 32nd birthday and was taken out to RedLobster. I have fish and grilled shrimp and accomodated it quite well. I can eat all kinds of meats and do well with them.

My New Year's mini goal (also my 8 year anniversary) is to lose 50lbs. I have only 10 more to go and feel that I should be able to make this. I have started exercising this week and have already incorporated weight training. My plan is to do cardio Monday - Friday for 30 minutes and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to do weights. It's Wednesday and so far so good. I have not done a good job of keeping up with my measurements but will soon start keeping track of them.

I am so thankful to GOD that he let me have this second opportunity to get my weight under control. At times I deal with feelings of another failure. I just pray that GOD helps me get my eating habits under control so that I can substain the weightloss for years to come.

My Goals

Nov 06, 2007

I have decided that I need to start writing down all the things that I wish to achieve. I think that writing them instead of just keeping them in your head helps you stay accountable for your goals and also keeps them on your mind. Here are the ones that I have come up with. These can be expanded on at any time:

1.  Get my blood sugars under control w/o medication.(10/10/07)
2.  Get off blood pressure medication.(10/07/07)
3.  Lose 50 lbs. (1/15/08)
4.  Do 30 minutes of cardio 4x per week w/light weight training 3x per week.
5.  Be able to jog for 5 minutes.
6.  Take up only 1 seat on the public bus.
7.  Get up and down off the floor with ease.
8.  Fit comfortably into size 14 clothing.
9.  Get below 200lbs and be in ONEDERLAND!!!
10. Be able to fit into any amusement park ride (due to weight, not height).

4 Weeks and 26 Lbs Gone

Oct 31, 2007

I am officially 4 weeks out today and have lost 26.5 pounds. I am loving the weightloss. I am trying really hard not to stray too far from my Dr's strict 6 week liquid diet. I will make it, just 2 more weeks. I go for my 1 month follow up on next week Thursday. I am a bit worried about my drain hole. It is still open and draining somewhat. We will see what he has to day. I get in about 2-3 days of exercise per week up to this point. I know that I am suppose to walk everyday, but I don't feel like it. Some days I am sooooo tired and other I have no energy on top of a low sugar episode. I have completely stopped taking my diabetes medications and when I do test my sugars, they are within exceptable ranges (60-140). I see my endocrinologist the week of Thanksgiving so I will see what she says. Beside the fact that I am toooo tired (even though I get in my 2 chewable vitamins) I thank GOD daily that I had this surgery. I just need to step up the exercise so that I keep on track. I decided to join the New Years Mini Challenge. I am not very good about setting goals for myself, so maybe this will help me be more accountable for my weightloss. I decided that in a total of 3 months, I should be down 50 pounds by New Years Day. That is only 24 pounds in 2 months.

For my 25 pound weightloss reward, I will be having a full body massage this weekend. I really need one and even if I didn't, I want to have one. I deserve it. Thanks for stopping by, I should be updating monthly.

Post Op

Oct 09, 2007

Well, I my surgery was on Wednesday and I have been home since Friday. I am getting a little antsy about food. I am not hungry, but have a family who are constantly eating and the smell of the food is starting to smell really appetizing. I go in on Thursday for my appt. with the Doctor.  Just wanted to let everyone know I am home and physically well, if not mentally.

One More Day

Oct 02, 2007

Here it is, the day before surgery and I am soooo ready. I went and bought tons or Powerade yesterday and will need to make a run to the store for my family some food. I just pray to GOD that he helps me with the will power that I need to leave the food in he house alone. I know I will do fine, but there is always this thought in the back of my mind that I will fail like I did with the band.
My husband asked me the other day why the band didn't work and I had to really think about it for a minute. I was doing really well at first and then I figure that either I didn't want it as much any more, or I thought were I was at the time was good enough. I don't want to get back in either one of those mindsets.
I published a few of my goals so that I will have something tangible to achieve. I think that it also makes you accountable when you write them down and tell people about them. I will add more as time goes on.  I will take a few before pictures today for my before scrapbook and will probably post them after I come home from the hospital. I am so hoping that I will be one of the lucky ones that get to go home on the day after surgery, but am prepared in case I get to stay til the usual Friday dismissal. Well, I will post again after my return from Memorial City Herman. GOD speed...

The Countdown

Sep 24, 2007

Well, today is the day I see Dr Naaman and go for my pre Op testing. I can feel the butterflies fluttering around this morning. I try not to think about it much, but you too will also see that the closer the date gets, the nervousness/anxiousness is come. I trust in the LORD that everything will go as planned. I wonder how long it takes to get the test results and what types of things will draw a red flag.

Back on the WLS road

Sep 21, 2007

I am so blessed and grateful to the LORD to be here. I have finally been approved for RNY after having to appeal the first try. My plan is company funded thru UHC and their requirements was BMI 40 (not 35 with co-morbids). I actually had to put on 20 lbs in order to be approved. But I did it and now I am anxiously waiting for October 3rd. Satan was working against me, but I prevailed. My surgeon is even about to retire in November, but I got to get my date in regardless.
