4/3/07 Down 21 lbs and First Dietician Appt. Post Surgery

Apr 09, 2007

I'm 5 weeks post surgery and down 21lbs.  Have been walking 1 mile 5-6 days a week and it's taking about 23 minutes.  I met with the Dietician today and can now progress to solid food.  Looking forward to a salad and chili.  Am feeling a little hungry and shared this with the dietician.  I have a f/u appt with the doctor in 1 month and will possibly do my first fill.  Yippee!!

4 Days Post Surgery 3/4/07

Mar 04, 2007

Moving right along.  I'm four days post surgery.  Still have a little soreness and some gas still.  A friend from our Aetna Nutritional classes and I turned out to have surgery the same day and have comparing notes.  I guess due to all the soreness and air, we were having a hard time recognizing what we should be feeling when we're full.  I guess yesterday, I learned as I had a family event where I brought my soup and ordered a cup of decaff coffee.  I could only drip about 3 sips of the coffee before I felt like it was stuck in my chest.  Luckily it subsided.  Considering all that my body has been thru I'm doing extremely well but feel that maybe my pain tolerance level is a little higher to do all the issues and surgeries I had in early 2006.  Been sticking pretty well to my regimen of B12 sublingal when I get up, something to drink, wait 30 min.  breakfast with protein supplementation, 1 multi vitamin, protein drink snack, calcium, protein enriched lunch, protein snack (usually pudding), calcium, protein enriched dinner, multivitamin, iron before bed time and liquids throughout the day.  I did go out to the grocery store for a bit yesterday and didn't do too bad.  However, I did sleep pretty sound this morning but think the little extra exercise helped with alleviating some of the gas and soreness.  I have my first f/u appt with the surgeon this Friday.  Looking forward to pureed foods but the full liquid hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. :)

2 Days Post Surgery 3/2/07

Mar 02, 2007

Well I'm two days post surgery and feeling pretty good other than a little gassy and sore.  The day of surgery, the surgeons and I agreed that it would be less risky for me, considering my previous intestinal issues, for me to go with the lap band.  I've been trying today to drink all the items the dietician and I laid out prior to surgery but doing the best I can.  I've been a little active today and taking the dog outside for short bathroom walks.  I did get a little tired today and commited to myself to nap, which I did, when I did get tired.  Going better than I thought and know that it's a one day at a time pace I need to stay focused on.
