6/5/02 Here I am again! Sorry about the delay, but my computer died the day before I went to surgery, and I had to wait for a replacement. First of all, thank you to all for their continuos well wishes, I promise to answer all as soon as I can! I had my surgery on 5/10, I was to show up at the hospital at 5:30am and then I would be processed. There were several other people there waiting to go thru it too. I was prepped and all and I did not go to surgery until 2pm. It lasted about 2:30 hours and I was not taken to my room until 8pm since I took long to wake up. I do not remember much about the first 2 days other than that it hurt a lot, I kept saying "why did I do this", and I kept calling for my mom. My daughter also tells me that I was having allucinations: I was seeing trays of cookies, cantaloupes and children jumping on my bed! I was made to walk every so often and it was hard at the beginning but got better once they removed all the drainage bags and IVs. The surgery was on friday, and on monday they started me on pureed foods. I did not do well and also because I was running a low fever, they kept me on for a few more days. I was finally ok to leave the following friday. Because we lived far from Ft Lauderdale, we were recomended to stay in the area until my G-tube was removed, so we stayed at a hotel nearby. It was much better than staying in the hospital, but I longed to go home. On tuesday, 5/21, I went to have the G-tube removed and get my first weigh-in. I had lost 22lbs!
