I have battled weight since I was about 10 years old. I can remember the boys mooing as I walked down the halls of school and the local mall. I used humor to block out the painof my parents second failed marriage, and food. My mother didn't allow sweets, but my Dad did. I am part German part American Indian. I battled drug addiction in my early 20's and went thru treatment fot that. By then I had two beautiful children and one failed marriage. I had lost all my weight naturally in 1998, I was 150 pounds. I met my husband then we became pregnant with twin boys shortly after. I gained over 100 pounds, well that weight never really came off for long, it always came right back on.
My brother had the bypass about 3 years ago. My Dad and Step-Mother had the Lap band done a year ago December 2009. My sister-in-law had the sleeve done November 1,2010.
I had tried everything I could and I knew I needed help, so I chose the sleeve gasterectomy. My surgery was November 30, 2010. I am not going to lie. It was a very painful surgery. Once the pain was under control it was manageable. I walk almost everday or get some type of activity in. I am a certified medical assistant so I am always on the move at work. I do strength training once a week, I am trying to get to three times per week.I have had a recent change that is good but has rocked my schedule.. I became a Grandma on 01/08/2011. I am so excited. He is the reason I quit smoking September 6,2010 and the reason I did this surgery. I want to be there for my children and grandchildren. I want to run, and play with my husband. I want to live!!! So I need to get my butt back in gear and get back to the gym, I have years to be a Grandma but I gotta take care of me first.
