2008 is when I had my surgery a gastric bypass. I was 391 pounds at my heaviest, today in 2121 I weigh 191 pounds. I actually can't believe that I have lost 200 pounds, and now weigh the same as I was at 21. Awesome when I am turning 60 this year, was it "simple" No, was it the easy way out as so many people will say to you... No way. Be aware, read, research don't take one you tube video and say, oh it looks like the easiest way. Why did I choose RNY over the alternatives? For me, and EVERYONE is different, I knew that if I dumped it would curb my sweet craving as it sounded bad. Dumping Syndrome, I'm not going to spell it out but research what happens, nothing prepared me for the experiece and I was really happy it happened. After the first time I swore never to have that experience again. It has happened more times than I would admit and most times not all, it was bad choices or the just one more bite. Once again lucky I found out quickly that my nose starts to run just before the point of no return. The RNY for me was an amazing tool. So, if you have read this far, fast forward to 2021, it's been 13 years, my pouch is no longer as restrictive, malabsorbsion not as much am I taking my suppli ments every day, getting hydration in? excercising? I can't lie, no i'm not, but I try and we are human, I pay for it when I don't follow the rules I accept that. But I thank god every day that the Center of Excelence in Bangor was so excellent! And here I am.
