The first week out

Jun 21, 2010

Its Monday and its during my first week out. Having the Bypass with Removal of my Gallbladder is different than I expected. I didnt have all those emotional things like buyers remorse or regret. Ive been preparing for this for a year now and have been through all that prior. The hardest part is the gas!!! In the hospital no matter how far or long I walked i couldn't pass gass. Burping  only thing. That first night home passed gas at 12:45. I know exactly when things happen because Im journaling my food and how I feel. Today at noon took my first BM. I was stoked!! Im on Darvocet, and drinking apple juice is a double whammy for constipation, but mine was anything but. Im drinking lots so its helped.
Im still hurting and weak sometimes. My DH brought down a twin bed so I dont have to conquer the stairs all the time. I tried going up Sat am to take a shower and it totally wiped me out. So now i know my limits. Now On I have all my supples downstars. So I can take a shower downstairs without wipping me out again. As for food, I found out water and store bought jello was way too heavy fr my new tummy. I can tolerate apple juice and choc protein shakes from Costco. There called Premier Choc protein. Very healthy for ya too!  Hope I get some needed energy soon and so I can workout and drive again. The simpliest thing takes my energy. My first dr appt post-op is Thursday. My mom is bringing me because Im still on pain meds and cant handle to drive just yet. I will give an update Thursday!
