It's happening....

Weightloss surgery is something I've considered for years now.  Growing up I wasn't overweight, I got married straight out of high school and started a family right away, the weight started, and through life, business and situations, it just kept coming.  Now it is necessary due to the health problems I have carrying it around.  I have yoyo dieted and lost a little bit here and there, but it's just hanging on now.  I started the process about 5 years ago only to lose my insurance.  When I found out my insurance covered it this time around I jumped right back in.  I met someone about a month ago, who had just had her surgery the week before, and I guess talking in person to someone who had just had the surgery helped me to finally take the plunge.  Things are happening fast though.  I got all my requirements met, clearances etc.  I was told by my insurance company they don't require a 6 month supervised diet followed, all they require with my employers purchased policy is a 5 day notice before surgery.  I haven't gotten the approval from them yet, but it is in process right now so I can hear back as early as mid week this week.  I have an endoscopy scheduled Tuesday morning.  I have a hiatal hernia and I am hoping that it doesn't interfere with the surgery, and that he can actually repair that while he is in there.  All along I thought I would go with gastric banding, who wouldn't chose that option, however my surgeon, my specialists and my pcp feels like gastric bypass is best for me and after attending support group meetings I made the conclusion they are right.  For the most part my family is supportive.  took my husband a minute to come around, of course he is supportive, but I guess the normal issues that surround.  My oldest daughter would rather see me get lap band, she did a research paper on weight loss surgery when she was in college, so she has researched them all, I just don't think she understands as much as my dr.s do.  I am very pleased with my surgeon so far and have heard great things about him.  He is very nice, and after one meeting with him feel like I've known him for a very long time.  Now that all of my requirements are in it seems to be going fast so I am getting anxious!

My lowest adult weight- 127  my highest right now at 338 not sure what to set my goal at yet, not sure what to expect, will work with my surgeon's staff on these goals.
